finished the install today and am still breaking the new top end in. have not given it more than half throttle and my vdi has not come back from velocity yet but this thing rips. i will post some pics later of the crank case breather setup that is required with this motor kit. if anyone has any questions about this feel free to ask!

Keep us posted, I'm thinking this is the platform for the race build that will answer to the RZR phenom.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_confused.gif) I meant of the 840 in action. If your regarding the so called RZR phenomenon, i already know thats false. It doesnt take much on the track to smoke those suckers (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_biggrin.gif) |

Did Fundy build the motor? Are you using the YFZ breather mod with a return to the dimple tapped to the rear cylinder timing chain galley? These are the mods we had to do to our HO KFX motors that were built by either Fundy or Mickey DunLOP! Anything over 80 CHP would blow oil out the breather all over the place. This mod will contain that problem for good. |

i did the motor work but the kit is from Four Stroke Tech, and yes had to do the breather mod using a yfz box.

Nice... We had an 840 KFX with a 60 shot of spray hit high 60's on Banshee Hill at Dumont. Not bad for an almost 600lb tank of a quad. The 840 should roll the Teryx pretty good. Did you have the heads ported too! Wakes them up alot on the top end. Have fun, gonna hand many a Rhinos a smackin' now.

I dont think a RZR has a chance i hell up against a teryx with a pipe either.. |

I dont think a RZR has a chance i hell up against a teryx with a pipe either.. I think that is pushing it, but it wont take much to overcome the RZR. I think airbox opening/jetting, pipe and a clutch spring in the primary will do it. Might need the CDI too to overcome the rev limiter.... BTW I would wait for either LTE or Muzzy to release their version of pipes for the Teryx as those produced the best dyno numbers for the KFX's and Brutes... |

decided not to wait for the muzzy exhaust. built my own headers from mandrel bent steel, the first 12" are 1.5" then stepped it up to 1.625", the shortest i could make the front one was 40.5", the rear i made the exact same length. According to Mickey Dunlap at Four Stroke Tech this is what is needed to really get some high reving hp with this 840. He recommended the size and length of tubing that they had seen the best results with. he did say stay as close to 35" overall but 40.5" was it, i even moved the front header over the flywheel cover instead of under. today i will fab the merge collector and mount the muffler, its a hushpower II shorty with 2.25" in and out. heres some pics, the last one is of the stock front header and the new one i made.

Nicely done!! Keep me posted how it runs for you. I am holding out for EFI. Had some issues with the CV carbs not liking all the bumps with an open air box with the KFX's. Will go with another Fundy 840 with full port for sure. Should rip!! Later.

finished it up today and it rips. the top end power is awesome, night and day different, with no noticable loss in low end. i am very pleased with the results. need to jet up though. i've got 200 keihen mains in now and its not enough, and i think that is as big as they make them, so tomarrow will drill some out to 5/64 or 3/32 which is what FST recommended. my sandcar has a CBM built 402ci LS2 in it so its takes a lot to put a smile on my face power wise, but this thing did tonight, its fast!
will post finished pics of the exhaust later this evening |

had some time to kill today so i grabbed my hand held gps and headed down my driveway in the teryx. i have a paved driveway that has a strait section that is 620ft long with a slight uphill grade before it makes a sharp 90. From a dead stop without flooring it off the line (trying to save my clutch but still left some rubber on the ground) i hit 56.1mph and it was still pulling hard before i had to hit the brakes.
does the rzr still pull hard at 50mph+ ? still planning on some video tomarrow! |
