Since we are always looking for an extra this or extra that, please post them in here if you got 'em
I'll start:
Have 3 stock wheels with good tires. One rim needs a new seal (5.00) Some surface rust but would clean up nice for a project bike. (hub not included) $Make and offer
Have a couple stock air boxes one a little dented, the other is perfect: $Make and offer
Have a stock carburetor of a running 82: $Make an offer
Have a used cylinder that is in decent shape, could be honed and reused or bored out for a project: $Make an offer

I saw a Lifan 107cc engine on ebay anyone ever put one in a atc?
its not electric start so it seems like the kick start would hit the fender?
claims "This engine has more horsepower than a 125cc engine!"
any of u guys had any experiance with one?

We have made a new forum for articles and tech tips for the 70's.
This will keep the pinned part of the forum less cluttered and make it easer for you to find those tech tips that would normally be lost in the other threads.
When you have an article or tech tip that you would like posted in the new forum, post it like you normally would and let me know. I'll be glad to add it.
This area is NOT to be posted in. Any questions about the articles in that forum should be posted in the main forum...
Thanks

I put this together from diagrams I dug up on the net. I know I use them a lot to put things together... hope this helps a few people out there.
It is for an 85 specifically but I'm sure a lot of it carries over from the 82 and older models.

Here's what I have, I have put both the steel tank and the plastice clarke tank on this bike and they both fit with no problems.
I'm going to run a flexible rubber hose over the starter and mount the air cleaner in the stock location.
Also, anyone hear of a "colors" engine?

I'm working on the battery portion of my Lifan swap and was just thinking..... If I cut out (into the frame pipe) behind the fender/seat mounting bracket at the rear of the frame (on top between the rear bar mounts) and dropped a steel box in, It should clear the seat and plastics, wouldn't affect the rear bar mounting, and be up and out of the way. Anyone done this?? If I use the steel box that I welded up (for an under mount) and welded it completly into the frame strength wouldn't be compromised, plus that far back it probably doesn't matter anyway. Also, the front side of the seat mount would be a great place for the solenoid, cdi, rectifier, etc.!!
I don't care, I'm doing it

As per title
Looking for ideas for my project bike
Want to keep it a 4T with the same bolt up pattern for frame
Is the larger cc engines a pain to start with a pull cord?
Esp with high comp

I have two ATC's - want to get rid of one of them. Your choice. Treshombres did the engine and maintenance to both of them.
Both have Green sticker and registration.
I only want to sell 1 of them and want to keep the other. PM if you are interested.
Pics to follow. They aren't show bikes but they work.

Hi, New to the forum and there is a lot of great info on here. I have had several ATCs over the past years. My last was an 86 250R that I sold back in the 90s. Of course I wish I wouldn't have. I now have a 2 1/2 year old daughter and son due on Thursday, so I thought I would pick up a 70 to restore for them as a rider (when they get older of course). In the interim I may have to take it for a spin or two myself. Got it off of Craig's List for $150. Been collecting parts over the winter and got started on it recently. Here are a few pics. What it looked like when I bought it; a seat I bought off of ebay (seat pan was like new and the foam was great too); seat cover after I stenciled it on new fiberglass fenders.

Will have a color chart up soon.
But basically colors include: Black, White , Honda Red, Xmas Blue, Daytona Orange,
Pink, Purple, Yellow, Fushia,
All I can say is these look absolutely bad a$$
The gas tank is relieved on the bottom to allow for carb clearance.
Buy Em Here!

Like you, I am a die hard 70 guy and have owned some nice ones. These 2 are the cleanest 70's I have ever seen and would take thousands over what I am asking to duplicate them.
First, you will recognize as the former "Blinger" built by Jon. It is flawless and has an OEM Honda 125cc electric start. Everything is chromed, polished, or Ninja Sparkled. I bought this bike to look at it in my garage, it's near flawless and gorgeous. It has a one off stereo system on it. The amplifier is built into the seat foam, the ipod mount is on the handlebars, and a custom glassed in fiberglass pod was built to the rear of the bike (see photo).
Next, is the mighty all original A+ suspension bike previously owned by another handsome board member as well. It has larger wheels and tires for us taller folk with a brand new Lifan 110 electric start. I have never had this bike out of the garage either. There is a 450 rear shock to support a 250lb rider, raised bars, and in near flawless condition.
$3000 for either bike, or I will sell both for $5500, no trades needed, thanks.
These will be on display in my garage for the next 5-10 years so I'm in no hurry to sell either, I just want to see them go to a good home. Let's keep em in the family. All bikes are 2011 green stickered and pinks are in my name. Who wants a pimped 70 or two for the season, turn key?

$3000 for either bike, or I will sell both for $5500, no trades needed, thanks.
These will be on display in my garage for the next 5-10 years so I'm in no hurry to sell either, I just want to see them go to a good home. Let's keep em in the family. All bikes are 2011 green stickered and pinks are in my name. Who wants a pimped 70 or two for the season, turn key?

I know this question is asked once a month or so, but I never really see a final answer. So maybe if everyone posts what has worked for them, we may see a trend & find an answer for tuning a stock 70 carb.
It's those damn aftermarket air filters that throw it off, but I'm not giving up a reinstalling a stock air box. I will find a combo that works, this 70 will not beat me!!! I need that extra quarter hp I gain from a K&N...Ha! Ha!
Anyway, I have two different combos in question & I know some of you out there have got yours to run correctly. I'd just like to get them running good until I can afford to update the engines.
Rebuilt both carbs, dipped both carbs, floats are correct, new petcocks, have fuel filters, timing is correct on both (checked with light numerous times), no manifold leaks, compression good, new points, etc.....
I think it's just about finding the correct jetting.
1. Stock 70cc with K&N air filter (or foam UNI), stock pipe - only runs good with choke on, but kinda chokes itself at top speed; bogsor dies w/o choke on, but runs ok "wide open" with choke off
tried both a #60 & #62 jet - runs a little better, but still needs choke on
moved the needle clip, tried both rich to lean
tried air/fuel mix screw from 1.25 to 1.75 turns out
Just won't run w/o choke on....Why! Why!Why!!!! Sorry about that, anyway.
Weird thing: as you turn the idle screw out, it slows to a certain point, then it doesn't effect it & doesn't die????
After thinking about it, because it runs good with the choke on & bogs at lower throttle, does that mean I need a larger slow jet?
Where did you guys get the #40 slow jets or should I just index drill it?
2. Stock 70cc, K&N air filter, aftermarket pipe - runs ok, but bogs here & there
#64 jet
air/fuel 1.5 turns out
needle 3rd notch
seemed to burn better with a hotter plug
Weird thing: air/fuel screw can be turned in all the way, run worse, but doesn't kill it????
OK, there a description of both my problem children, any suggestions on jetting or tuning these beasts?
Post what has worked for you, we may see a trend & find an answer for tuning a stock 70cc carb. (not 82cc, 85cc, 88cc, etc...)
List the following:
aftermarket air filter, aftermarket pipe, or both?
main jet size?
slow jet, if not #38?
needle clip - what notch?
air/fuel screw - turns out?
Spark plug?

Well I am tired of seeing my dad “Bustin-Bs” have all the fun on the 70’s, so I have decide to make my own with his supervision and his pocket book, in short his financial backing. Last year you saw some pics of a 70 my dad found on the road, well I have inherited that 70 as my own. I started my tear down and have an idea for a theme, but as most projects this will take some time and effort on my end.
Purchased an 88 top end kit, need to rebuild the motor and look into upgrading the oil pump. Also plan on getting the Sterdy pipe and going from there, this will not be ready for this year’s Regatta but I plan on having it complete by next year’s Tres Regatta.
Parts Needed=
Money $$
Gas Tank and Gas cap
Twist Throttle
On N Off switch
Plastics
Sterdy Pipe
chain
Tires
Powder Coat
Need some input on what gears will work best with this 88 kit.

Does any know if a top mounted electric start lifan will fit in the 70 without issue?
My 110 has a bottom mounted and it looks like a top mounted would fit but I'd like to know for sure. Seems it might be a little close to carb and air filter.
Thanks in advance...

This is my first post on gd.com. I've visited this site in the past and found a lot of informative and useful information. For the past 10 years I've been NUTS about the small Honda bikes (50's and 70's of all variations), but the ATC70 has been my passion. At one point, I had over 10 of these little bikes at once and would only sell them because I was out of room to store them. I have never made any money on them because I felt it was more important to keep the bikes alive and hopefully make a friend in the process.
About 8 months ago, I came to the conclusion that I needed to sell one of my bikes. I was contacted by a guy that seemed interested and related to me that he NEEDED this bike and led me to believe he was coming with cash in hand. Well he flaked on me at least once, but I tried to understand that "stuff happens". Finally, he showed up to check it out. Introductions were made and within 1 minute of his arrival, he was jumping on the bike-wanting to take it for a test ride. I let him take it for a spin because he seemed to know a lot about this type of atc. I noticed this guy was very high energy to say the least, and after the test ride he was talking a mile a minute about what he would have done had he built it, talking about his personal builds, and basically pointing out all of the bikes faults. He bounced around the bike, wiggled a few things, crawled underneath it and circled it repeatedly. I figured since I was asking 1/3 of what I had invested in the bike and the rarity of it, even if he rebuilt it to his liking, it was still cheaper for him to buy mine than to try to build it for scratch. Just as I thought a deal might be struck, he abruptly said goodbye, jumped in his car, and was gone. I never heard from him again. Nothing. I came to the conclusion that he basically just came to see the bike to get ideas for his own build. I took it off the market and figured I'd just keep it.
Since this time, I met another guy that is more knowledgeable and passionate about these bikes than I am or will ever be. Not only that, he has gone out of his way to help me with my bikes. (the guy was late to a date because he was helping me out!). He is a hell of a guy that anybody would be proud to have as a friend. During a conversation, I told him about my experience with the high energy "bouncy" guy that checked out my bike, and he related that he knew him and that didn't sound like him at all. Maybe I was wrong about "Mr. High-Energy-bouncy-boy-lookie-loo"?
Fast forward to about 6 weeks ago. I found out that my wife needs surgery and my insurance will not cover the procedure. I come to the conclusion that I have to sell a car to pay for it, but first I have to buy one to replace it first. I contact my atc70 friend (that I mentioned in the paragraph above) and ask him if he could spread the word that my bike is for sale once again. Even though he didn't ask for it, I mentioned I would even give him a finders fee for helping a brother out. I lower the price and include more goodies in hopes that I could make a fast sale and get my wife her operation that is set up for next week. Granted, the sale of the bike would not pay for the operation, but every little bit helps. About a month ago, I'm contacted by none other than "Mr. High-energy-bouncy-boy-lookie-loo". He stated that he heard the bike was for sale again and that he had "cash in hand" for it. Not only that, he was going to come over to my house and buy it at the reduced price later that day as soon as he took care of a home emergency. He didn't call, he didn't come by, and never heard from him...until 2 days ago.
I got a call while I was at work and he stated that he still had cash in hand, but his schedule was tight. I ask him if he wants to hook up at our mutual friends house to save him a little drive time, and I was hoping to hang out with atc 70 enthusiasts. He excitedly agreed. Yesterday, I loaded up the bike and head over there. I arrived right on time, and actually saw "Mr. high-energy-bouncy-boy-lookie-loo" arrive as I pull up. As usual, he is very excited about the bike and quickly takes it out of my truck. He was all over the bike like a fat man on a candy bar. I tell him that I haven't even started the bike since he rode it 8 months ago. He's all over the bike, rocking it back and forth, pointing out all of the faults (crack in the plastic, missing grab bar-used on wife's trx70). I'm was very patient because I was under the impression that my "cash in hand" guy was going to give me a little cash for a deal of a bike (albeit not perfect), and help me get one step closer to paying for my wife's surgery. 20 or so minutes later, after standing in the sun, he comes up to me and says "its a hell of a deal, but "sorry man, I just can't do it" stating that the plastics are cracked and its grab bar is missing. He helps me load and strap (still complaining the whole time). No lowball offer or nothing.
Finally, I tell the guy that he's been d$%king with me for the past 8 months on this bike with no intention of buying it. I re-hash our whole story to him and express that I am not happy with the current situation. He tries to make it all better by saying that he'll give me a little gas money for bringing the bike to him. I tell him to take his gas money and shove it up his a$$. I probably said a few more explicative words as well. I then calmly drove away. As I was driving away, I call our mutual friend and apologize for not saying goodbye (he went inside soon after my arrival). I also said that I hope that the situation between Mr. high-energy-bouncy-boy-lookie-loo and me will not affect our relationship. Being the type of guy that he is, he related that it would not. Deepest respect for this guy. He was just trying to help a brother out.
So it you are still reading this novella, I have a few questions and would love some feedback...
Am I wrong for being a little pissed? Are there guys out there that would have punched this guy in the baby maker like I wanted to? (I didn't cause a scene out of respect for the mutual friend) Are all the other ATC70 enthusiasts like this guy?
What would you have done if you were in my situation?

Here's the deal,
"Buddy" of mine finds this few months back for $400 bucks, it's not running, not titled, has extra engine, was told the engine on it has low compression. I was going to make this my project. I ended up buying another one that runs.
I"m selling this for $300 bucks, the plastics are in good shape, no dents on the tank, nothing missing.
tires need to be replaced and the rear seam of the original seat needs to be re sewn.
Taking off to AZ tonight, will post pics Fri. You can text me at 562-895-6609 if you want some pics off my phone sooner.
Already taking a hundred dollar hit on this so not willing to go lower than $300, no trades, cash only.
Vin is clean (my line of work, this was first thing I confirmed). Will fill out a bill of sale and I can get a letter from orig. owner too.
70 is in North Orange County, CA.

I heard that climbing rope works great for the pull starters on the 70. Anyone know what mm size I should get and how long per pull start.

Hi all!!
I am new to all this. Just started a restoration of a 1983 Christmas Special. The Gas Tank was FULL of rust. Came across this:
http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=3709.0 And to my surprise it worked GREAT!!! Went to "Freds" (local retailer) and spent less than $3
I will try to post some pics, but it took the inside of the tank down to BARE Metal!!!
Coated with WD-40 until I need it.
Hope this helps someone else!!
If anyone has any advice, I am open for suggestions.
Thanks in advance
