Since we are always looking for an extra this or extra that, please post them in here if you got 'em
I'll start:
Have 3 stock wheels with good tires. One rim needs a new seal (5.00) Some surface rust but would clean up nice for a project bike. (hub not included) $Make and offer
Have a couple stock air boxes one a little dented, the other is perfect: $Make and offer
Have a stock carburetor of a running 82: $Make an offer
Have a used cylinder that is in decent shape, could be honed and reused or bored out for a project: $Make an offer

We have made a new forum for articles and tech tips for the 70's.
This will keep the pinned part of the forum less cluttered and make it easer for you to find those tech tips that would normally be lost in the other threads.
When you have an article or tech tip that you would like posted in the new forum, post it like you normally would and let me know. I'll be glad to add it.
This area is NOT to be posted in. Any questions about the articles in that forum should be posted in the main forum...
Thanks
Mr.DUNE

I put this together from diagrams I dug up on the net. I know I use them a lot to put things together... hope this helps a few people out there.
It is for an 85 specifically but I'm sure a lot of it carries over from the 82 and older models.

I get the feeling a majority of you are from California, so I thought I would share some of my ice riding pics from Michigan. Maybe you'll enjoy seeing some different terrain

Need to get my seats redone for a couple of project bikes. Looking for a GOOD shop to do the work. I already bought the material, now just need someone to stitch them up. Need a shop located in the Inland Empire or Orange County. Anyone have first hand experience with some shops?

Well, I'm back again looking for help. After lots of good advice from you guys I finally got it running a little over a week ago. I gave it about a half hour of heat cycles to break it in and after that started taking it up and down the street and running it through the gears. Finally this past Wednesday I decided it was time to let it rip. I took it out on the pond for some ice racing and opened it up. Of course it absolutely ripped...at first. After a couple laps it started to sputter on the top end, so I changed the plug. It didn't seem to help, I took a few more laps and it kept sputtering on the top end, and it finally died and lost compression. I knew I didn't melt the rings the plugs showed it running plenty rich. I pulled it over a couple times and I could here compression coming back through the carb. I took the top valve cover off tonight and this is what I seen. The valve on the left is stuck open, when the rocker arm makes contact it only pushes the valve down about 1/8" and it stays open until the piston comes to TDC and pushes the valve back that 1/8". The one on the right functions perfectly.
- what would cause the valve to stick? I only have about one hour on the new motor.
- Can I take the valve apart without removing the head? and do I need a manual.
- Heres my info
-107cc Lifan 3 valve
-DrAtv 22mm carb
-crf50 chinese pitbike exhaust
Thanks again for all your advice!

So after riding ATC's for about 4 hrs on Thanksgiving I had to get one.
Found this 85 for $100 and it ran so it was a good starter.

The seat was a old t-shirt so that had to go

Old

New
I got to ride it a few times before the motor started making a really bad noise
so out with the old and in with the new
Zongshen 125cc

Then tonight i got to working on the paint work
Side Cover and Chain Cover

Painted the back wheel while i was there and liked it so that led to other work

I took the axle tubes off and spun sanded them

Got the rest of the wheels done and pinstriped them

So thats where i am for now, it is gonna be a rider so im not being too picky.

I had a Honda 70 Fourtrax when I was younger and it was a fun little quad. I recently found out my friend has a "like new" as he put it 1986 70 Fourtrax in his garage that his daughter learned to ride on. He said she rode it for about a year and never got into it and its been covered in the garage for years now. He said he would sell it to me as he has no use.... whats the going price for one these day?

Ok people, let's do this! The 2nd annual 70cc regatta will be Saturday, January 30th, 2010. Please rsvp through the link above and also post up in this thread if you will be attending this year's 70cc regatta. Since this year's regatta will be even bigger and better, we are required to get a special event permit and insurance so we'll need to cover those costs.
Participant registration is $25 per person which includes an event t-shirt, regatta sticker, and an event wristband. This allows you to partake in all the fun with your 70.
Spectators are free, but you still must rsvp thru the link above. If you would like to help doante towards the event costs, please select supporting spectator when checking out. Sponsor packages are also availabe. More info thru the link.
The Sandcrazd event t-shirts are available through internet PRE-ORDER only so get yours ordered now if you would like one.
Racin Dirty is planning on making up additional 2nd annual regatta swag and will be vending AT the event so we can all look forward to that this year.
And of course the famous Smokin Al's BBQ will be attending again this year and serving up some of his really good grub for lunch. We'll probably just sell meal tickets the day of the event for that to cover his costs.
Last year's was an absolute blast and this year's will be even better! We look forward to seeing everyone from last year and then some!
If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. There will be even more info posted up as we get closer to the event.
Some of this year's event will be broken down into 3 classes. That way more participants have a stab at a trophy.

Does anyone know if Sterdy products is still in business and if they are how to contact them? I tried to contact them via e-mail from thier web site but it came back undeilverable. I also noticed thier forum here hasn't been posted since August 2008. I need a new carb and a that handlebar extension kit. Motoworld wants $145.00 for an OEM carb, they had them listed for $99.00.
Thanks Chris

Hi, I have a Lifan 110 that I put in my '81 atc 70 and I was curious what spark plugs are you guys running? It has the 22 mm carb from dratv and a crf50 big bore pipe. Also what gap are you guys running on your plugs? Thanks, Doug

Looking to get my frame, forks, axle covers, brake drum cover, and chain cover powdercoated black. What would be a fair price to pay? I want quality but dont wanna get gouged either.
Does anyone know of a good, fair priced PC'er in the IE or OC?

Here's some progress on my ATC70 project. Started out as a budget restro project and I went a little overboard......tank is painted, everything else is powdercoated for the most part. Kinda out of order but you guys will figure it out. Hope to have some Carisle tires, polished wheels and a Lifan 125 on its way soon.

3 stock exhausts (to keep it real and gen u wine, thank you Superstar 70

) $20 a piece
foot pegs $15 for the set
chain guard in pretty good condition. Where the chain drags a bit on the bottom, it's a little bit funky, but looks great from the side $10
Pull start that works good about 95 percent of the time (might wanna look at it) $20
Pull start (100% works) and side cover with chain slider and the chain peek a boo cover thingy

$40

Ok all, I figured it was time to bite the bullet and start a new project. My first "atv" ride was on a 70 back in the day so there is a little bit of nostalga going on here for me. My son Evan had a chance to ride GITRDONE's 70 in the compound and he just went nuts. (thanks Scott, you just cost me a bunch of money) I had to and still hear about it non stop from him. So I decided that an early X-mas present was in order. I searched and searched and found this bike. Picked up this one from a guy in SanBernardino, He put a new top end on it and even had all the reciepts to go with it. The design ideas will come from Evan and he will also help me do the build. I am really looking forward to this project.
BTW: I am also looking for another one to be "MY BIKE" so if anyone out there has a good solid foundation they want to get rid of at a reasonable price, just let me know. I need a builder, dont care if its complete or not. At minimal, it need to be a straight frame.

After searching for an A+70 frame for several years now I have decided it's time to design and build a custom suspension frame! Although I have built several custom atv frames and race car chassis, raced anything from Goldendale, WA. to the Baja... I want your help.
I'm curious to know who, if anyone would be interested in buying a frame? If so, what features do you guys want to see? The frame will be similar to the A+ frames however the goal is to make them stronger, lighter and cooler than their counterpart.
The kit I intend on offering would include the following items:
- TIG welded DOM frame
- TIG welded swing arm
- Swing arm pivot bearings
- Swing arm pivot bolt
- Disk brake flange to adapt CR50 disk to factory ATC70 axle
- Billet aluminum tripple clamps
- Custom longer front axle bolt (required for use of XR75 forks
- Triangulated bracket (to secure engine head to frame- near coil mount)
- Chain Tensioner assembly
Some basic features I have already considered or planned on:
a) billet tripple clamps (to utilize xr75 front forks)
b) reinforced steering stop (to minimize dented gas tanks)
c) DOM frame tubing (for added strength)
d) triangulated bracket from engine to frame (maximize strength for us slightly bigger kids)
e) OPTIONAL: oil cooler mounts (for Lifan and GPX engines)
f) rear hydraulic disk brake
g) 3" longer swingarm (compared to the A+70)
I am currently designing the frame and will make all necessary changes as I get requests. I will keep everyone posted on the progress of the project and will let you know what the cost for the kit will be as I know more. Thanks in advance for your help! Pete

I swithched to the 22mm mukuni carb and 22mm intake and the carb hit the tank. So like I read on here plenty of times, I tried to dent my tank in and now it leaks. I know its getting pretty bad and I put the redcoat in it about a year ago, but I don't think I want to mess with it anymore. I am thinking of getting the plastic tank. Is there another tank that would work with not a lot of modification? I really like the ones that look like xr50 tanks(I think thats what they are?) Any other ideas? I am not stuck on having to have the classic 70 look. On another note the 22mm mukuni and 22mm intake sure woke up the 110. It still seems to lack a little powe in 4th, like it doesn't have enough power to really wind out, but in first and second it takes off like crazy!

Hey guys, I've bought 6 bikes in the last few months and have accumulated a ton of extra parts. I've done my best to get decent pictures for you guys but speak up if you have questions or need more pics. The two tanks have rust holes in the bottom of them however if you want to mess with them shoot me an offer... I just want em' gone! The frames were purchased without titles so they are sold with bill of sale only. All parts are in good working order I just don't need all of this in my storage room. I'm located in Bend, Oregon (97702) so you'll have to pay shipping. I accept paypal or check so let me know what you want and lets negotiate a price. I would rather see you guys end up with these parts than sell them on ebay. Thanks, Pete

I had it in my 70 for while. I installed a new clutch. It seems as though it has some shifting issues though, seems minor. I was on it the last time out and it ran really good, rippin it to Vendors and such. Clutch seems real nice. It just shifts kinda funny

Maybe I'm just not used to the new clutch.
GlamisGreengo says it seems fine to him, no problems.
We're gonna take another look at it this weekend though. It's either all in my head

or a minor detail.
Bore up kit was $109
I have a hi flo oil pump $35 but didn't install it. Included
So I guess I can tell you now I'll be askin for more than $150

Anyone interested? I'll think of a price.
