Dale at King Sand Cars, invited me to drive a couple of their new cars, at Mother G this morning. They were doing a shakedown run on the bosses new car and brought a couple others as well.

All I can say is HOLY SMOKES! These little cars handle great, plenty of travel, and NO shortage of power.

Thanks Brian and Bob, what a kick!

I've been kinda toying with that idea also. I could sell the buggies I have now and pick a couple King Sand Cars. We'd still have four seats and the wife wouldn't have to be a passenger all the time.

smart business move for King.

We'll probably see several more of the big companies offering a
Small car line as the prices continue to climb.

There is a huge market out there for 20K cars.

Will be money well spent. They make an awsome rail and I have been very impressed with all the videos as well. Looking forward to driving one when I meet up with them at the dunes......

They are like mid 20's...

My friends dad just bought Bob's old one and I got to take a spin in it last trip. It was fun to drive, hauled ass, my only complaint was that it was a bit wandery at the top end. 5th gear down the drags and the front end was grabbing tracks, but other than that it was awesome.

Why do you guys think we have a damn good time in our little car? And why, no matter if we won the PowerBall and had more money than God, we'd NEVER EVER sell our little buggy? They are a blast! Now with the 2.0 in there, and weighing in at about 1400 pounds, it shoud be even MORE fun than it is now! icon_biggrin.gif

If it's new it's $26,495.00. The used ones sell for 25k so you know they hold their value pretty damn good....

Nice car but I would like the cage to look less squared and tall. Something more like this. Just my personal preference.

Just got back into town and just saw this thread. Bob, thanks for taking us up on the test ride 70.gif , I'm glad you had a good time.

This car has a few options, Chrome package, bead-locks and HID's, about $3k more then our base.

Cummin, you can come over for a 25cheers.gif anytime!!! Sorry I couldn't make it to Coobie's get together, work had me taking a seminar in Vegas..... tongue.gif

We met up with these guys a couple months back for a photoshoot and were very impressed with the cars...........maybe there's a change in the air? who knows.

I really like the San Onofre Surf inspired "old guys rule" theme the car had displayed, it was a nice touch.

Interesting topic Bob! It's very true that buggies of different sizes drive/dune VERY different.

But I found it most interesting when I looked up the specs for that car...

QUOTE
Wheelbase is 101"-Width at Front is 72"-Width at Rear is 88"-overall length is 11'-3"max height at cockpit is 52"-cockpit width is 50". Suspension travel front & rear is 18". Ground clearance is 16". Weight is 1000#.

Based off those numbers, my car is a mini too. My car's wheelbase is only 3 inches longer, but that car is actually 2 inches wider than mine. It's funny to me because they "look" smaller than my car, but really they aren't.

Ahhh $h!t dale, that was all I could handle.....M.P.H was flaring up and I don't mean miles per hour....I actually got scared...maybe I'm just used to my big car.

Hey dale, have you ever tried to run implements on the front of one?? Just wondering cause it seems like that might take the wandering out of it.

Dale you guys ever clock one of these wide open in 6th gear?

I hit 5th a couple times and it felt like triple digits or very close to it.
I know this motor in the street bike will pull just shy of 190 mph.

Actually the motor will do 202 mph in stock form. They put govoners on all the newer bikes but that is a simple fix with a cheap plug in resistor icon_biggrin.gif All the govoner does is prevent the bike from going over a certain RPM in 6th. If you re gear the motor you are restricting top speed then even if it's only 80 mph depending on when it hits the RPM cut off in 6th.

What's considered a mini then? I've got a 112 wheelbase, 82 wide at the front and 90 wide at the rear. Weight around 1200 pounds, widest part of the cockpit is 63 wide and the height is 48 tall from the bottom of the frame to the top of the roof.....
