It appears the amp under the back seat possibly shorted out and started the fire

That sure sucks!

I sure hope they cover it. If it was not factory installed, the insurance company may very well try to weasel out of it. That's how they roll.
Me's Toy
Oh, that bites! Glad everyone is ok and you saved the rhino.

My husband and I were the ones that stopped to help, when we got to the truck it was only smoke and the 2 ladies were panicking and overwhelmed. Quickly after we got to the truck it went up in flames, after using 2 of our fire extinguishers to try to put it out and my husband burning his arm... we realized that the truck was gone. We then went to the Rhino and my husband and myself pushed the Rhino off the trailer and saved it.

Sorry for your loss Tom
Your welcome

PS.. I was amazed to see so many rigs driving by and not stopping even though you could see it was only 2 people rushing to help.
Ruben
well i am glad no one got hurt.
tomfish1
Thank You very much to all that stopped to help. My sister in law was practically in tears as was I when they called us. We were about 30 min's behind them in the motorhome.
Mrs Sandwinder
I'm so glad Shelly and Anna got out and were 'ok'.

No more Presidents Day weekends for you guys. Two years in a row of bad luck.
toybreaker
Damn dude that really stinks. I am glad no one was hurt.
AZDUNERAT
This weekend was just a mess for a lot of people. I am glad no one was hurt and that the Rhino was saved. I may have to swear off presidents after this year too many odd things went wrong.
Screamin Ian
^^^you got that right, this weekend was a freaking break fest for us.

1st off atleast everyone was OK!! And second off it was not the GM product, it was the faulty wiring under the seat as stated above, Good luck and if you do need a new Chevrolet call me 714 319 7726 Nolan Paden at Anaheim Chevrolet... where did this happen?? bugsy2.gif

New conspiracy:

Buggies burning up? Now trucks?

People matter more than stuff. Glad all are OK.

Important lesson to learn here: Fuse 18" from the battery on the main power line. If this was done, most likely would've prevented this.

Glad no one was hurt otherwise. It's just a truck and can be replaced.
tomfish1
was professionally installed with 2 inline fuses about 10" from battery.
farmdog
damn tom im sorry to hear about your loss im glad your sister inlaw and friend are ok hopefully the insurance will be right with you, and ps ( please dont swear off pres day im looking forward to some driving lesssons next year ) later buddy.

A fuse would protect against that if there was one installed at the battery like it should be. If this was installed by a stereo shop I'd be talking to them about replacement cost of the rig due to negligence.

But glad no body was hurt.
