What makes you guys like Buttercup/Gordons Well more than Glamis?

Fewer idiots just out to have a good time at the expense of others.
More riders instead of drunks.
Cuts my drive in half.
More virgin dunes without having to search for them.
Never been hassled for picking up others trash unlike at Glamis where they gave me a hard time about it and assumed it was my trash.
More people who've never experienced the sand before who just pull off 8 to see what it's all about and are willing to take a first ride. (I LOVE giving first rides! Amazing how many "macho" men beg for mercy before I even get into the throttle and how many older grandmotherly like women scream for more more more!)

You can circle the "wagons"
Your next door neighbor is far enough away that you have to walk over to their camp to talk to them.
There aren't many camp racers.
Great environment for families (wagon circles provide for kiddie tracks).
Sand highway is only 200 yards away (at least where we camp)
Pair-a-dice (they're nice to you

)
The BLM guys are less stressed.
Less testosterone per capita
Fewer posers

glamis can be fun but is disappointing when you cant find a parking spot.its like trying to find a parking spot at the mall during christmas time.maybe they are going to put a parking structure out there with our money.

I agree with all of the above. Anybody that says Buttercup is too small hasn't gone into Mexico yet. I know we're not supposed to but sometimes you just end up there. Lots more razorbacks but on a dirtbike it's fun.
Tons more room for camping and you don't have to go too far off the road to find it. Definitely more family oriented. If you don't like the Buttercup dunes just ride over to Gordons. You have the best of both worlds.

Less kooks and more riders. Drags are drags! Not a Freakin Parade!

All of the above! I like to camp at plank road then go to gordon's to dune! I think the dunes are just as good as glamis in my opinion!

I have to agree with what everyone else has said so far. If you camp in the right spot you have plenty of room and can easily get over to Gordon's and ride up to Glamis if ya want.

Oh, I should also mention, at Gordons you have to pay attention or you'll get stuck trying to drive into your campsite and getting back out

over the years i have noticed that there is much more dust at gordons compared to the G, but a lot friendlier than the G per capita. I helped tow a guy back to camp, i have been with a guy who decided to take his probe out to test and had people stop to help dig it out instead of burying it. had people tow us outta the sand, never had anybody race through our camp, never heard of any harm coming to anybody at gordons. test is awesome at night, no probs, just sit back and watch. pattons is simply a great ride. start at the canal where we camp just inside, ride to test, race, ride to pattons, race, then dune it back to camp...man i miss the desert.

(Quiet, if everyone keeps talking up the South Dunes all the partiers will start heading south) Gordons/Buttercup are TERRIBLE ! Way too crowded, too soft for RVs, the rangers are Nazis, the dust is overwhelming, millions of bugs, nuthin' but super-loud Country & Western blaring, ugly women & fat old men, & millions of illegal aliens raiding your cooler at night. I wouldn't send my mother-in-law there !

Let's address your concerns one at a time:
Way too crowded? Yep, can't ever find anybody
Rangers are Nazis? Yep, twice a day when they visit our camp they're right on top of all the regulations (and violations)
Dust? No problem, Home Depot sells masks
Bugs? Wear bug repellent, my wife found some with a nice fragance
Too soft for RV's? Yep, somebody get's stuck every trip
Country/Western music shared across the flats? Absolutely, nothing but the best ... bring on the Willie Nelson ...
Ugly women & fat old men? Hey we all get there some day
Millions of illegals? Yep, they help with camp maintenance
Send you mother-in-law in there? ABSOLUTELY

I also go to the southern end quite a bit. I usually go to Gordons, but a couple of trips to Buttercup each year. I just sold my 2 seater and will have a 5 seater long travel for this season.....can't wait to try it out. Also can't wait to meet some of you guys from the board.

A Ranger shot me in the face last time I was out there just because I got my truck stuck. There is so much soft sand on those damn flats! It's impossible to drive anywhere out there. I hear the Chupacabra has been sited around Gordons lately too. AVOID THE SOUTH!

Hey wait I think I saw the Chupacabra too. We were coming back from Test one night and it was around 11:30 or so I'd say. I mean we were pretty faded and my head was throbbing so maybe I was seeing things. Hey Bansh the Ranger that shot you, did he have a big scar on his neck? I think I know which Ranger your talking about. I saw some kid get shot for being mexican. Pretty sad if you ask me. I avoid the south dunes because it is very dangerous. NOT a family oriented environment AT ALL. to much partying, druggies, acoholics running around.

Take several strong, long tow ropes with you when you go to Gordon's.
EVERYBODY gets stuck there at least once. Although I know one guy who seems to get stuck every trip with a 36' Bounder tag axle and a 28" trailer. Its hard work getting him out to the road.

Been hitting Gordons for the last 17 years. Used to go to Glamis growing up. It was fun when the hills were steep and the dunes weren't crowded. Unfortunately those days are long gone.......

Ya i like Buttercup/Gordons better then Glamis, because on the big weekends at Gordons/Buttercup,you can actually run the hill without being worried that some idiot is gonna come down the hill while in a wheelie doing about 80 MPH....
