Ok a buddy of mine thinks he cross threaded a spark plug in his head.
My question is if it is infact crossed what would be the best way to fix the problem? bugsy2.gif

If it's still in the head, leave it there. Crossthread=SuperLoctite. ph34r.gif

He might get lucky and be able to clean the threads up with a tap coated in grease.

ouple ways to do it.You can remove head(probably have to anyways) take a new plug and thread it in from the inside part of head might have to get a longer reach plug and hope it works.

If it doesnt go to a local auto parts and buy the thread repair kit and use that it will do a good job it will cost about 30 bucks or more at autozone dont buy the cheap one at kragens it wont work.I have repaired mine with the head on and off but thad to be careful with the head on used a vacum cleaner stuck in the exhaust port with the exhaust valve open while i tapped the spark plug hole.IMO easier with head off

Better note if you are close to me i am in fullerton for a 6 pack of sierra nevada i can fix it or you can borrow the tool i bought to fix mine also have the new inserts too

I paid 35 for this kit only used it twice. Can only use it 2 more times on my car if i need to since it only has 4 cylinders.LOL But both repairs have been a one time deal And is easy to use tap self centers and cuts away alm before it taps new threads(gos to next size bigger) and insert threads right in just add a lil red loctite and use the other part of tool to nurl the insert.

Do this - it'll pay off. The last thing you want is, like me, to have the spark plug shoot out of the block and you're sounding like a helicopter in the middle of camp. I eff'd up the heli-coil thingy and ended up getting a new head.
