good set of cams, higher compression piston kit, port/flow the head and maybe even bigger carbs...
It's not how fast do you want to go, it's how much do you want to spend? 8)

What year is your raptor?
If it is an '01, get the tranny upgrade before boosting the HP.

It's a 02. I was thinking of a big bore 680 from CT. But that's about 1400$ Big money since I want to go with a bigger suspension on my truck.

CT is only 5 mins away from me. Thats also a big reason why I lean towards CT so much. Do you think thats too much money. Not that I have it. I would have to do some serious saving.

Does anyone know how to take the heel plates off. If I take the bracket off the rear fenders stay really floppy.

disconnect the motor mounts/chain, etc. You with me? OK, pull the motor out. Get your hands on a 2 stroke 350 Yamaha engine and install that. That should not only give you better performance but get rid of all your headaches as well. Hope this helps.

OK. Listen close, I'm only gonna say this once.
At FSW II, the Curtis Sparks Raptor, ridden by a 75 or 80 lb kid, smoked the living daylights out of everything else at Comp. Time after time.
The secret? They completely welded up the intake ports and rebuilt it. Instead of the factory "1 carb feeds 1 intake valve and the other carb feeds 2 intake valves" (Huh?? WTF?) they had both carbs feed into a 2 carbs-in-3-valves-out intake tract, equal load on both carbs.
For more specific info, contact Sparks racing and see what the size, compression, carbs, etc was on that bike.
A very close second to them is Craycraft racing. They originally were approached by a dissatisfied Trinity customer who had a seriously hosed up 686. thye tore it apart and realized they could do much better for a lot less money. They use a complete systems approach and their ace up the sleeve is their porting expert: he is the secret weapon on the NASCAR circuit from what I've heard. His philosophy: not big ports, but high velocity ports that keep fuel in suspension, and he knows how to do it.
While others dynoed 686s at 40-45hp, they dynoed their "mild cruiser" 686 at 54hp, IIRC.
Go to ATVconnection.com and ask around, Sparks and Craycraft post a lot there.
Good luck, Steve

Curtis Sparks for a 4-stroke would be somebody I would look at . But bring big $ if you want to go fast /w/ a thumper .
686 that should be a good race for a Banshee

Now that's good advice although I had to read it twice for it to make sense I'll keep looking.
