I personally run 8 cup Taller Haulers on my LT500, but I am curious if anybody out there runs 6 paddles on their quad? My buddy rides an '07 YFZ450 and when he called around, one shop told him their most popular paddle is a 6 cup. blink.gif

I thought 6 cups were only for smaller displacement vehicles that don't have the power to pull an 8 cup?

I don't even think i've ever seen a quad in Glamis with a 6 paddle.

What kind of paddles do you guys run on your 450s? peace.gif
GWTT
itp sandstars. i dont think they are 8? i think mine are 6. could be wrong. depending on the size rim too makes a difference. 6 is less load on the motor, less hookup on the bottom end doesnt wear as hard on the tranny, but your not going to win a dead stop drag race either

Joe at fullerton sand sports has sand skate 1's on his 500.

No 1 paddle is perfect for all bikes. The reason the 6 paddle is so popular is because it works best with a 50hp or so 450 fourstroke. With your 2-stroke you'll want something that slips a bit more on the bottom to let the motor rev into the powerband. I believe the SS1 is an 8 paddle but it has very mild paddles.

A 500 has plenty of power to turn 8 paddles. So do banshees. I ran 8 paddle haulers on my shee and they were perfect for anything that didn't require a lot of tight turns. 6 paddles wouldn't hook up as well. Thumpers like the 450's have the power to run 8's also. I think the 6's allow people to turn and slide better. Thumpers are usually not for running the hill so they can benefit from more of a duner tire. I'd still pick 8 paddles over 6, even with a YZF450.

I have herd 6 is the way to go... less drag on the engine....

but i haven't ridden with them...

i will say that I LOVE my sand skate 2's (8 paddles)

20x11x10 and they are 8 cup. depends on how much power you are pushing if you have a bike that cant get track with 6 then step it up to 8. For me i have the 8 cause my ltr just spins the sixers
GWTT
i dont care whatever i got, Im fast thumb.gif either way laughing.gif
SHOCKER
people think they are going faster with 6 paddles but in reality they aren't. They are just running in a higher gear like 4th or 5th because the paddles slip too much. thats my opinion

I run 8 paddles haulers on my z400, or did until they ripped off and i gained alot more speed up the hill and down the drags.
DJ E-Jay
long as you are having a blast thats all the more reason to keep going out and running all day and night!
GWTT
so if you have sand stars with the 1/4 paddles, how many paddles do i actually have dunno.gif
Morgan
6s are where its at for sure on a 450. They dont make the TQ that bigger motors do, so less is more with paddles.

SHOCKER
We need to get two bikes. One that beats the other and set them up with paddles. One with an 8 paddle and one with a 6 paddle. Make a few runs then switch paddles on the bikes. I want to see/feel the difference.
DJ E-Jay
welll i have plenty of speed and ask amegee i shoot a long roost off the start with 8's so i like them thats my two cent
GWTT
going to the garage to see be right back!

thats what i heard, but there is no way to find out unless someone actually test it out. I dont want to fork over big dollars to buy some 6 paddles haulers and not like the outcome.

ALot of people say you dont have to gear down when you put on the 6 paddle haulers, well no shiat. Thats because there is alot of slipping.

For me its just one of those things i need to see in person.

As an example my LTR has a lot of work done to it. Makes 54 on gas. It would not spin 6 Extremes, which are comparable to a 7 Hauler. Now I run 6 Haulers on it and it launches hard in 2nd and runs hard on top.
SHOCKER
Mine holds 3rd all the way up the hill. I start of in second and most bikes i pull into the whoops harder, however they catch up a tad when we all hit 3rd. I can beat my friend raptor 660, he has full pipe, jetting, intake, and one lower on the front, he's running 20" stars.

I was thinking that 7 paddle haulers would be good, im just not sure about those 6 paddles yet.
Morgan
My LTR pulls 4th, and my Honda pulls 5th.
glamiskid395
i have sand sharks on my 400 which i think are eight!!
i ran dune sliders (8 paddle, not made any more) before and they spun way too much!
i like my sharks, they slide good too!!

If you are over 210-aka-bigger guy,a 6 or even a 7 blade is your tire,if your lighter then you could go with an 8 blade. p s dont get them itp sand stars ,they SUCK , my nobbies hook better. bdance.gif
SHOCKER
My stars hooked up pretty good with 3.5 psi in them
HDGasser
Ive got a set of 8p and 6p haulers.... i like the 6's better, faster up the hill and through the drags. the 8's hook up real good in the begining but not good for top end.

I have tested both sets of haulers against sandstars. 8's grab off the line and give about 3-4 bike lengths but my buddy is on my ass at the top of the hill. 6's spin a lil more off the line but float alot better and keep pullin all the way to the top by about 3-4 bike lengths
