I can get an 87 Lt250r for $600. The motor is built to 310 or 330. it has a honda piston, yamaha rod, heavly ported and polished. Ken at Cycle tech said it would be a runner and was the sh*t back in the day. Needs to be redone. it has 2 gears in tranny that need to be replaced, but they don't make them anymore. but a local shop thinks they might have them in back somewhere??? The bike has lonestar +2+1 a-arms and +2 swingarm. the bike has been sitting for 2 years. it needs to be repainted, powdercoated, polished and tires and misc. I can get the motor back together for about $300. then it is all cosmetics. I will probably end up with another for another $700, so around $1600++ total..... but who knows

The plastic is sun faded but not brittle. My buddy who took it on trade rode it and said it was fast but the tranny was messed up (3rd or 4th)

need your opinion? should I put time into it? I have not built a lt250r but have built my banshee, and my buddy has built over 10 banshees and will help.

thanks

i had south bay motorsports re do my old 85 lt250r and it had tranny problems too. theytold me they couldnt find any replacement parts for it so they matched up a gear. it turned out to be a dirtbike 5th gear which made it a really long gear. i could never get to 5th cuz when i did the bike would bog. so i had more power and speed in 4th. ever thing of puttin a different motor in it? it sounds like it has alot of good stuff on it but the tranny thing is something you dont want to mess with. to me it was a pain not to have that 5th gear.

thats my $.02

SHOCKER
It sounds great just do a little looking into before u buy it and find out about those gears. Im sure u can find something. The plastics are no problem u can paint them yourself with the new Krylon fusion paint or u can buy new ones. Its all up to u.
