I thought I would start this thread for people to post tips and what-not on getting their quads ready to go for the season. I've got a Raptor, and I do all that the manual says as far as maintenance, but I'm sure there's a bunch of other crap I should be doing as well.
Also, how do you "clean out the intake????" Do I have to pull the air filter box off? :?
Thanks

I don't have a Raptor, but your basic maintenance check list should cover most applications:
Change oil & filter (crank case oil for two strokes)
Clean and oil air filter
Clean intake and air box
New spark plug(s)
Inspect / oil chain
Lube all fittings
Charge battery
re-pack silencer if needed
Check all lights for function
Make sure all nuts & bolts are tight (replace any missing)
There is probably more, but this will keep you out of trouble.

check all your lube points and makesure they are dreased up.
check your axle and all the chain, brake disc., and swingarm componets.
(that place takes alot of beating and should be maintained.)
and check common stuff that can happen that will strand you out there and piss you off. make sure all your cables are working, brakes dont need adjustment, and tires are good condition. if they have had air in them before you put it away and dont now check them and makesure you dont have a leak.
most important to me. if you let your fuel sit in the tank and/or carbs make sure you drain it and start with new fresh gas.
then make sure your hauler is ready and go out there and have fun.

Change old gas for new.
Change brake fluids
Install new spark plug
change fuel filter
(just drain your tank and look at all the sand and dirt at the bottom to see just how dirty your filter can be.)
Check the O-rings on you chain to see if you need to replace it.
use green loc-tite on all faseners.
lube all fitting and wipe off excess lube.
