I had that with me the first time I went to the DMV for my RV endorsement and they didn't know what I was talking about. bugsy2.gif

The second time I knew that I needed a Restriction 41 endorsement. box1.gif

Most of the local DMV offices are a little lacking in knowledge when it comes to what is required and what is not. I took my written and did all the paperwork at the Pasadena office and they had to call Sac to check it all out...that was in November. Took the driving/skills and inspection test at San Bernardino Commercial office in Feb...all good. Up here the two commercial offices are in Montebello and San Berdo...

I just took my non commercial class A writing test and pass. Now i take my driving test on 4-24 in Fullerton. The test was only 20 question. Does anyone have any pointers for the drive test?

I just went in to the Poway DMV last week filled out a simple health questionaire and took the written test, pretty easy, mostly common sense. Now i've got my noncommercial class A permit and have one year to take my vehicles down for a safety inspection, and take the skills test. I did it because my 30' attitude (bumper pull)has a gvwr of 13,000#s. Oh yeah, they require a $24.00 processing fee. Why mess around? Just go do it.

Memorize the pre-trip inspection sheet and spout it off when asked...drive slow and easy on the skills test, no hurry!!! and stop so you can see the wheels of the car in front of you on the drive test!!!

The pre trip inspection is very ticky tack ,you must recite the entire checklist verbatim! I could not believe how critical the inspector was. Failed it miserably the first time. If you go to take this test be very prepared and tell the instructor every single item on that list. They will not ask you anything you must tell them. Take the time to memorize all of it so you won't have to re-take like I do.

Can't you just take a copy of the item by item check list and read it off and if asked tell them that is how you will do your checklist everytime so you don't miss something?

Also...some people are taking the Class A commercial test instead of the Non-comemrcial class A test. Make sure you get the right one!

this is true.....on my class A inspection test, i had to recite tolerances for play in air brakes, had to explain the difference in feel when checking for a tire that is properly or inporperly inflated when hitting it with a steel bar, had to remember to look at marker lights for cracked covers, hoses for cracks, leaks, check hood straps, pin and locking mechanism on the tractor, etc....

If you have to take your test at a commercial facility, just be well prepared
