Hi All,
We're taking our new-to-us car out to Superstition for a get-to-know-the-car run over Easter (used two-seat Mazzone.)
The car came with smoothies up front and paddles on the back; I've already bought some spare rims and Desert Traks for the back (figuring the paddles would get eaten up and/or beat us to death!)
What's the scoop on running smoothies in hard pack? Am I asking for trouble? And should I just pony up and buy a spare set of rims and tires for this weekend or would I be OK for one trip?
We will mostly go to the sand next season but are meeting a bunch of people at Superstition for this trip.
One more thing: What's the difference between 'combo' spindles and spindles and how do I know what I have? (Guess I need to know if I hafta buy rims...) No brakes up front if that makes a difference.
Thanks,
Mark

smoothies will work/dirve/steer fine but they are very thin if there are rocks/bushes/sticks where you going i would not reccomend them unless they are implements then you should be ok. Combo spindles are bigger in diameter vs. a standard vw one. I think the smaller stock size is called "link pin". On a small old school mazzone midengine car you probably have the smaller linkpin one's.

Ended up picking up some implements from Fabtech, so I should be good to go!
Thanks for the replies...
