I am thinking about getting some full doors like the ones from desertworks. I think my leg minders offer some protection and I am ok with them for me. However my 10 year old son rides shotgun withe me 90% of the time. His legs are a little shorter than mine and I am a little worried. If I hurt myself that is my fault but I couldnt live with myself if my son got hurt. It is not worth taking any chances. Although I am not a big fan of full doors (I like the open feeling) I think they are going to be necessary with the addition of my MTS kit. I think I might start going a little faster with the smooth ride of the kit.
I have one concern with full doors. The doors are right about arm height. I agreee they offer great leg protection..... but if I get them am I now just creating a potential for an arm or a hand injury? I guess I could add some nets for him on the passengers side but I could also just add nets on top of the legminders on his side...... or maybe I am better off with 1/2 doors .....
Any opinions on the safety of the arms and hands? I have never done much research on doors in fact I have never even sat in a Rhino with doors..... I dont care about looks .... I just want my son safe. Thanks Guys .....

So I'm trying out my WER's and I get out of shape going through some whoops and the Rhino starts to go over on the Drivers side. I look down and my freaking foot is sticking out like I'm going to save it, I've been riding my two wheeler two much, and the best part, I have leg minders! Move forward a couple of Months, now I've got a broken leg, thanks to the above mentioned two wheeler, and now I don't want to risk my leg again, so full doors I want. Oh I'm getting nets in the back and wrist restraints for all four seats...

I personally don't think leg minders are a huge safety item....too easy to still get your foot under the bar, or over it......full doors, however, are nice. My doors (race ones) are high......and with nets, there is no way you are sticking anything out of that rhino.......I feel completely safe in it with me, and either of my kids as a passenger.......
Just NOT worrying about anything....that feeling of being protected...is worth the trouble and expense of adding doors....at least in my mind.
That being said, I think there are those of us who will just always worry...and it's just a matter of taking steps to make it one less thing to worry about. Me....with my rhino being pretty much as safe as it gets.....now I still worry about rolling over, being upside down, gas leaking somehow and my rhino catching fire.......and I have a fuel cell, and all my lines are routed correctly.......!
So.....take whatever steps you can to just have one less thing to worry about.......doors are a great idea, I think.

Just compare the cost on doors and broken leg, you get the picture.

I have the Desertworks doors and love them. I also use wrist restraints on all in the rhino. Can't be too careful and it's just one less thing to worry about while out having a great time. Call Scott and get the doors, you won't be sorry.

Full Doors... period.
I know people that still got their foot/leg out with leg minders.
Get in it Dukes of Hazard style and roll.
BTW... How do you think guys with those $85K+ sandrails do it... they have full doors and sit up as high or higher than a Rhino.
Goodtimes.

What about hands and arms? Is that an issue? I am not wanting to use wrist restraints for my 10 year old .... Is it possible for his hand or arm to be injured if he grabs on to the top of the door during a roll over?

You can do what I did....about halfway down my door, on the inside we welded a low profile loop handle...it's very comfortable and convenient for a child to sit and hold....if he's got his hand on something comfy already, and anything happens, chances are he's only going to grip that handle tighter.....that's what he'll hang on to....mine is low, so no hand, arm, or anything hangs over when the kids are holding on.....

Mike, my 9 year old Daughter has taken a few Sandrail rides and had to use wrist restraints and she had no problem with them. I think it would be a great why to teach safety, moving forward, if you ever get a rail, he knows what to do..
I think restraints and a grab handle are BOTH good ideas..

I thought about mounting some nets to the inside of the door just on his side....... Maybe I will do both..........
Thanks to everyone for the input. It seems that most everyone agrees that full doors are the way to go.

just like 450grl said have a handle on the inside welded... here is an old pic of my Rhino, and if you see on the passenger side I have a grab handle for the passenger.

I'd definetely go with full doors.
Whenever I have passengers with me in any offroad vehicle, I always suggest them to cross their arms over their chest and hold onto the shoulder harnass'. When strapped in correctly that is the safest place for your arms and hands and it is fairly comfortable.

Just got back from the 'off road expo' at Pechanga (LOTS OF RHINOS )
and was cheching out all the rhinos and about 90% of then had 3/4 to full doors
All nicely done . Any race rhino worth it's numbers had full doors .
I guess you would call mine a 3/4 door with a steel bar behind it and the dutze fasterners to hold the alum. panel on . Keeps those body parts inside ...............

I have aluminum panels that sit about a foot above the floor. Just high enough that I won't stick my foot out if I try to. No net, I never stick my hand out naturally, always tuck and roll.
