Well wifey and I have been racking our brains on how to raise some money to afford a booth at the SSSS. As some of you may know, we are pretty much just starting out, and have no sponsors as of yet.

So, I thought of something that might work.

I have quite a bit of firewood laying around the property, its all oak, and most of it is all dead, so if it is cut, split and stacked now, it should be great for the winter. It will also help to keep the pallets out of the desert.

So here is the deal: I am asking $50 a truckload, you cut and load it. and for an extra $10/day I will let you borrow my chainsaw (Its a really good one).

right now I also have some water and sodas left over from the adopt-a-wash cleanup, so I could supply you with that if I still have them.

Let me know if you are interested. And remember all proceeds are going to go to dunesafe.com for the booth, so you will be helping out your fellow duners.

Thanks,

Ian

Whats the cost of a booth???
Screamin Ian
For a 10X10 booth cost is $600, but for a corner it is $700.

Plus I would like to buy some merchandise to sell (shirts, flags, etc.), and also supplies to give away our Duner ID cards at the show.

So I need all the help I can get.

Ian,

Just a thought... Good Luck man. Good Cause
indianjoe
Do you have paypal?
I am good for the first $ 50
Screamin Ian
The sand show is in Sept, but we need to get stuff going now and book a booth.

we do have a pay pal account already set up.

Here is the link to our pay pal account, there should be a spot to make a note as to what it is for.

http://www.dunesafe.com/support.htm

thank you everyone for the quick response.

I can also try and take some pics tomorrow when I get home to show you guys what I am talking about.

I would also like to get some dates as to when you are coming up so I dont "oversell" what I have.

For those of you who dont know where Santa Ysabel is, its between Ramona and Julian off the 78 to the north. About 1-1 1/2 hours from anywhere between Chula Vista to Temecula.

If you do a google search for "Lake Henshaw" I am about 5-6 miles southwest of the lake.
SandTrap
Great idea Ian
Screamin Ian
I hate to get all technical, but a "truck load" is a standard full size truck bed filled up to the top of the bedrails. (give or take)

Granted I would like all the wood gone, but it wouldnt be fair if someone rolled up with a semi....

Thanks again all, I really appreciate it.

And for those who want to know exactly what we are doing with the money, it is to cover the cost of the booth, information packets, duner ID cards, and to start our project of first aid kits, atv safety training courses, cpr training courses, and I want to host a couple clean-ups.

Thanks, Ian

PM sent right back at ya, I have the next couple days off so I will try and get to some of the taller grass surrounding the wood. Hopefully if there are any snakes they will slither away for ya.
Eric Burden
Let me know if you need anything from a business standpoint. I actually have a pretty good idea for something. Actually a couple things.

I will do some figuring tomorrow at work to see what I can some up with.

If you don’t hear from me tomorrow please send me a PM. I tend to forget things.

Eric
Screamin Ian

PM me your address please. In the PM remind me too what you are trying to get going. I will try and help out, as well as pass the word to my other buddies who arent online.

Have you thought about memberships kind of like the ASA does, like for 25 bucks a year you get some stickers a small first aid kit, an ID etc... just a thought. (Someone may have already asked Im not sure) That way you could continually raise funds to keep your organization flowing.
Screamin Ian
PM sent...

So far Coobie is the only one that has said he is coming up.

I would hate for this wood to just lay here for the termites, or until I get to it. Any other takers?
Sandpacker
Thanks for all you're doing ...........donation sent. clap1.gif
Screamin Ian
Man....I cant tell all you guys how much I really do appreciate each and every one of you.

You all have supported what I believe to be a really good cause, and because of you, I do believe it will succeed. If I can just make one person think twice before they do something, and that saves a life then it will all be worth while.

Thank you all so very much, make sure you come up and say hi at all the events I will be at, especially at the Sand Show.

well, I may just have to make a couple of wood runs then!!!!
Screamin Ian
Roger that...The first couple of loads should be pretty easy, I had a tree fall right before we moved in (Jan '05) and had it all chopped up, but never moved the logs so they are primed for the taking
Screamin Ian
Well our first customer Coobie left a bit ago, and his truck was full of wood, if I would have been thinking I should have taken a pic for you guys. There is still ALOT of wood left, so if anyone needs some just say the word and I will make myself available for you to come up.

Thanks again!!!!
Bansh88
Funny. Wood for grabs offer and no one bites. Come cold nights at Glamis and everyone is asking who's bringing wood.
Screamin Ian
guess when its 90 degrees outside, nobody is thinking about those 30 degree nights in just a few months. Maybe come Oct. I will be able to charge $150 per truckload...lol Just kidding, price stands at $50 a truck load til its gone
YFZ4KT
I would come get a couple truck loads, but it would cost at least $100 in fuel each trip.........

By the way, very nice place you guys have up there!! clap1.gif
Screamin Ian
Thanks Coobie...next time I will have some beverages for ya.
Screamin Ian

Ian - PM Sent!
Screamin Ian
thanks
Screamin Ian
Well, I just spent the morning collecting random wood from around the southeast part of the property, I think its about a load and a half or so, it just needs to be cut up and thrown in a truck...

I have a couple more pieces to move and I will post some pics of the pile. they should be up by 1 or so today
Screamin Ian
Well, I was able to get some wood collected. It wasnt easy considering where it was, but its ready to be cut up and taken away.

I gotta admit though, it was kinda fun dragging the big logs around with the ranger. Here are a couple pics of what is ready to go.

Ian, I'm probably gonna head your way for another load next weekend. I don't have a chainsaw, is your saw still available??

Tks,
Matt
Toy Collector
Man, I'd be all over this if my back wasn't so effed up. We went through a lot of wood last year and I need to replenish my stack.

Maybe when I get better we'll make a run up your way Ian. I'd be good for two loads if I could get it in the truck...laughing.gif
Screamin Ian
So far, there are possibly 2 other people coming up on Sunday, and I dont know if the stuff I prepped will be enough for 3 people. I will try to get somemore prepped, but I really dont want to oversell anything.

The stuff that needs to be dragged out ready to be cut is this one....I just dont know if I can get to it by the weekend, but I will certainly try.
Screamin Ian
Well, Danzkawi took off a few minutes ago....thanks again Dan!!!.

I still have enough wood for about 2 more loads from what is prepped and ready to go.

Coobie? Aftermarket? anyone?

My weekend availability is...6/10, 6/17, 6/18, 6/23, 6/24 and 7/14, 7/15. After that I dont really have many plans for the rest of July, and am open for 3 of the 4 weekend in August.

Thank you.
Sndsamplr
