Ok here is where you guys come in handy........
I need to add a new Flag Whip on my quad, and I was interested in putting one on with a light....My question is do I need to beef up my battery, or is there some other electrical work that I need to do, to make this work?
BTW...It is a 2002 Yamaha Warrior....be nice now!!!
Any advice is greatly appreciated!! :bounce:

You dont need to get a new battery or anything. The little light wont take up hardly anything. Do you plan on just splicing into your tail light? You could get one that runs off the 9volt battery. But if your really worried about it draining your battery get a LED type cuz it'll suck less juice from the battery than a 1156 bulb type.

just hook it into the wires for the tail light, an 1156 bulb doesnt draw much amperage, so you'll be fine.

The above advice is correct, plus... I would assume any whip with a light will come with wiring instructions. It's pretty simple.

You'll probably want to use some sort of a plug so you can remove it easily.
I found an LED bulb that fits into a standard 1156 socket. I found mine in the "Rice boys" section of Pep boys...
"Rice boys" section = the section with all the neon crap they make for those phoney import cars.

It does matter I belive that thoose wires are to stopyour moter when oil is low and if you conect to one of them you might not start the bike just tap into the tail light and don't worry about it

In the electrical system there 2 plugs that connect for the oil and i disconnected those so it wont reconize the low oil. I tried connecting the whip befor into the oil wires and it work i just didnt have the sonnectors on it so it was low.

Interesting that we have sections named now:) So where would I find the cracker section?

...You can get cooler ones online. They have some that have the rotating LED's that look pretty cool. You can find em with blue, red, clear, purple, and green LEDs. They draw very little current

Notice I mentioned as long as its got power I wasnt trying to say to use those wires in particular. Just saying that if its got power it'll work.

tap into the tailight but do it with connectors, so you can just plug and unplug your whip. That's what I did. I just mount the whip, then plug it in and I'm ready to go... If you want I could help you out with yours, too out at G-Town... just lemme know...

what ever you do dont get a fiberglass lighted one... from my experience they suck cuz they are hollow and snap easy. any normal riding will cause them the break i spent more time tryin to help my bro with his fiberglass one and it sucked. i have had a metal whip with a light on it and i love it. but yeah make sure you have connectors to it so you can quick disconnect if you need to.

I'll help you out the October 10 weekend. When you see how easy it is you're gonna smack yourself...

They sell these cool connectors that you just snap on to the wires and when you do that they pinch through the wire's insulation. Then you just hook up female or male connectors to your whip wires, depending on whether the connectors you put onto the tailight wires are male or female, and then plug the whip into the tailight wires. We just have to make sure that you're hooking the whip up to the wire on your bike that gives power to the "running light" and not your brake light. That way, right when you turn on your headlights it gives power to the whip light, if not, it'll come on only when you hit the brakes... not that we ever use brakes in Glamis hahaha. It's easy, bro, I'll help you out if you don't get it done by then...

those metal rod whips are nice.i have one and my bike has rolled on it and it still didnt break.it also doesnt whip you in the head on the whoops like the slimsy ones.i ve seen them around for $30 lighted.that way she doesnt have to recut and mount a cheap one after every time it breaks.

MxChick, try this out. Fallow your wires from the taillight to the wiring harness. At the harness there should be a second set of wires that are taped off, if they are there then unwrap them. They should be for your wipe light. You should have one green and a unknowen colored wire. The green one is the ground wire the other is the power wire that goes to the light bulb. Hope this works...
