SHOCKER
We are all endangered, those tree huggers are kicking us out and pretty soon will be extinct in the USA, and we will all be down in South Africe riding the Zimbawbway dunes biggrin.gif

OR.......

the duning and off-road community represented by CORVA, ORBA, ASA, etc could accept their responsiblilty to monitor their effects on the environment and work WITH
the tree-huggers and find creative ways to enjoy your recreation and not ruin the public lands and wildlife for everyone else.

Nobody likes the free-for-all situation in the dunes anyway--except VOR. There ought to be a way for BLM volunteers (ASA members?) to put hundreds of people in the dunes to offer emergency aid and to provide real crowd control, to maintain closure signs and to educate the riders about avoiding impacts to the environment.

BLM and the off-road orgs have adopted a policy of non-cooperation, demonizing and belittling of the Green groups and this has led to a polarization--a war of words between the two groups. This actually makes BLM's job easier because they can say "If both sides are pissed off, we must be doing a good job".

The ones stirring it up are the groups sponsored by the industry--BRC, CORVA, ORBA, ASA to name a few. They are in it for the $ not for any altruistic motives like solving this conflict. As long as one side "wins" at the expense of the other there will continue to be conflict and degradation of the environment.

I can not think of any grass-roots rider's organization that is dedicated to preserving the environment. Can you?

Let's see; ASA, CORVA, SDORC, BRC, DUNERS, FoDM, FoOD, just to name a few.

We all care about the environment, possibly more than green groups.

But, I forget,

Just how effening "noble" and altruistic the Sierra Club, CBD, et.al. are.

Yeah, I forget things that aren't true.

And this could escalate beyond a "war of words." I hope not. :ninja:

Iwill give credit to ASA and Glamisdunes for trying to raise duners' consciousness about the wonders of the native wildlife.

BRC, CORVA and the rest are lobbying groups whose sole purpose is to influence public opinion and legislators to make more land available for riding.

If a resolution to this controversy is ever to be found, it will involve meeting around the table with CBD, Sierra Club, CNPS, etc and hammering out some agreements on how to make duning (and off-roading in general) compatible with sustainable land use.

Calling names and further polarizing the issues serves nothing.

It is not name-calling, it is a title. One that is earned. If anyone is curious about Internet Trolls, there is information available all over the internet about this particular hobby and those who engage in it.

Bluesky is one of the hobbiest of this particular "sport".

That said...

Bluesky, I've been distracted lately and I can see your posts following the usual pattern. The difference is I usually spot your downward spiral before it hits rock bottom but like I said, this time I was districted.

I cannot help it if these good people continue to feed your illness but I can limit the spread of your disease.

Watch yourself there BS. There is no patience left for you.

We the Duners are the grass roots riders your thinking of. Ive spent my entire life in the deserts of the south west. I imagine collectively we have many hundreds of years worth of experience preserving the deserts we care so much about.

Then why are the plants and animals threatened with extinction? Why is the trash 20 feet deep at Comp? Why does no one talk about nature on this bbs? Why is every water source too polluted to drink?

Blue haven't you ever heard of a man who calls himself Slappy McDuner.

If you would ever read the main page or just look at what it says at the top of the page under GlamisDunes.Com it would show you that we think more of Glamis then just a place to tare up sand.

Why do you think we call her Mother G.
Bluesky
Of course Slappy is doing a great job of educating and promoting the enjoyment and protection of the wildlife at the dunes. Sorry I failed to mention his great energies in the above post. :roll2:

That will never happen.

The Sierra Club, et.al., don't care about the environment. Their telling you they do is a mother effen lie. You know this just as well as I know this. They are all about money and power. They cost the tax payers (me and you) a tremendous amount of money because of their litigiousness.

Besides, why would any self-respecting person sit at a table with liars and thieves and general skalawags such as the Sierra Club?

They said back in the 70's that they would be satisfied indefinitely with the 35,000 acres north of the highway and wouldn't want any more.

They lied.

Personally, I wish it was an "open season" on them. I mean, wouldn't you shoot a rabid dog if it was in your yard and was threatening you?

Bluesky is an Internet Troll. Even in his lucid moments (rare, but they happen), he is still a Troll. His question about why we're not discussing "nature" (which we do) on this BBS (sort of like sneering that the players never play tennis at a football game) is just one more example.

But you all know that.

The fact that you're willing to step down and address him amazes even him (check out his "tags"). I guess it's kinda like being nice to the kids on the short bus biggrin.gif

Tolerance is a wonderful thing.

Word of warning BS... I recognize your pattern all too well. Watch your ass.

Plants and animals that are threatened? like? the Milk weed? think not. The turtle? Not from duners or off road people. Blue is it really that hard to accept that maybe Mother Nature has a way to making things become extinct? As for every water source, you should look in the mirror first as all of us should. BUT that has NOTHING to do with what we are talking about in THIS conversation. If you've EVER been to comp you would know that is NOT 20 feet of trash. Your a puppet of propaganda if you believe that. Sure there is trash out there as there is Trash where the last Eco-Convention was. The difference is, we police our own. Ive hauld more truck loads out of the desert than you could possibly know. I have proof and witness'. I have yet to hear how you have EVER made any Contribution to Glamis or any SouthWestern desert except for taking pictures of trails on private property where you have no clue if its legal or not.
Respect is a BIG word in this world. You want some? Step up to the plate or take a seat in the dugout..

Nature on this bbs.. can you be serious? Have you not seen the pictures, the poems, the stories about nature? Do a search for FOX, LIZARD, HAWK etc.. I assure you will find plenty.
Please understand there is a bad element that visits the deserts and dumps their trash etc.. just as there is a bad element in the eco folks we call terriorists.. you know.. the one lighting fires to peoples homes and cars.. Wonder who is the worse enemy on this one. Ive never seen a desert person start a fight with a Greenie. Its always the other way around.

Slappy
Why thank you blu, Slap do appreciate you acknowledging his hard work in that area. It be of soul purpose to do just that, to bring the beauty of Mother G to the people, and at the same time try and build a respect for her from all duners. And, we play and recreate on her etch-a-sketch playing field. Slap and the good folks here at GD.com gots hundreds, if not thousands of the young generation talking about Mr. Red Tail, Ms. Fox, and Mr. Great Horned Owl. And don't forget about Mr. Milkvetch, he gets angry when you leave him out of the gossip. Hey blu, head on to the SSSS and check out GD.coms booth this year, THERE'S GONNA BE SOME ASTROMAGNIFICENTSNAPPLEPICS there to check out. The big one of Mr. Sidewinder will...well, Slap won't give it away.

And OOOHHH, them duners are workin with a tree hugger, the biggest one of all, Slappy hisself. And ya know what blu, Slap could bet that you know a little something about the Sand Food Plant and what it looks like thanks to hangin out here. Slap could guarantee dat you know something about the Dune Evening Primrose to. But if you don't know about Slap's favorite of all, the Algodones Dunes Sunflower, then you gots to pay a little more attention to the pictures, riddles, games, and stories. ...And keep an eye out in esco's forum in the pic of the day where Slap likes to post slapptacious pictures of Mother G and her wildlife.

Oh, check it out. Not too long ago, Slap kicked it for a couple of hours with Mr. Sand Food and his beautimus purple flowers.

Hot darn we talked for a long time, and even got a visit from Mr. Pinacate Beetle. What a day that was :bounce: ...

Slap is workin on a new project called...well, Slap's just gonna say that it will be slappindiculous...UH OH, Slap gots hisself a new word.

And one more thing blu regarding that so called 20 feet of trash at the bottom of Comp, WHERE THE HECK WERE YOU DURING THE LAST CLEAN UP? Slap and many other duners are workin their tail off blu, but it sure as hell won't suffice for you to even give us a bit of credit for workin our asses off. Maybe someday you can find within yourself blu to work WITH us, and not against us. You'll be surprised, we really aren't bad people, and you may enjoy it.
Loki
i've got to hand it to you blue, your the only person that i know of that can actually look good with their foot hanging out of their mouth..........is there any one subject that you have some sort of partial hard evidence about :?: :dozey:
