Interesting read from CORVA's web site today. Although Ed and I have a on again/off again relationship, I have to respect his dedication.

____________

* Inductee in the Off Road Motorsports Hall of Fame

* President of CORVA for 14 years

* 2 time OHMVR Commissioner for the Calif. State Parks Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Commission (appointed by two different Governors: one Republican and one Democrat.)

* Founder of 9 non-profit "Friends Groups" to guide OHV recreation on a local level with residents and businesses involved in the process (such as Friends of Jawbone, Friends of El Mirage, Friends of Oceano Dunes, Friends of Dumont, Friends of Kern County OHV Parks, California Trail Users Coalition, etc.)

* Founding member of the California League of Off-Road Voters (known as the Off Road Vehicle Legislative Coalition in the 1980's) which produces the OHV Voter Guide

* Strong advocate for OHV Lobby Day in Sacramento, CA & Washington, DC

* Founder of "Make A Difference" campaign -- an Adopt-A-Legislator program

* Advocate of Volunteer Trail Maintenance (the volunteer groups groom trails with rented tractors, quads, rakes, and install trail signs & kiosks) instead of waiting for BLM & USFS agencies to find the money in the budget.

* Initiator of the "Friends" Map program whereby ALL OHV trails in 4 National Forests and several BLM areas in Southern California were mapped and distributed at $3 per map. Seed money was generated by grants, and map sales regenerate funds for future printings.

* Author of over 175 articles on OHV user responsibility and land access issues during his 14 year Presidency with CORVA

* Member of the AMA D-37 Board of Directors for over 25 years

* Member of Pasadena Motorcycle Club which will celebrate 100 years June 23, 2007 in Pasadena Rosemont Pavilion.

* Chair of all quarterly OHV Leadership meetings with 5 National Forest Supervisors and their District Rangers; and all of the California Desert BLM Field Managers and District Managers.

* Drives 5,000 miles per month to attend OHV meetings in his Prius hybrid.

* Reads and/or writes thousands of OHV e-mails a month

* 5 –year Member of the California OHV Stakeholders Group set up by Calif. State Parks

* Owns 4x4s, dune buggies, dirt bikes, dual sport bikes and quads.

* Rides on the street with either his 1977 or 2000 Gold Wing.

* Married with 5 grand kids and 2 more on the way

* Lives in California City and rides off-road at least twice a week inspecting trails

Hello folks, Sorry for not getting in here often. This site
almost overloads my 33k dial up here outside Cal City.

A couple of more factos on Ed. I live near him, so I have to
deal with him often, Ed always has an idea, meeting or project
for my wife or myself.

His key board on his computer...all the characters worn completely off
writing articles and returning Emails

I had a chance to visit his office recently for a CORVA meeting in Glendale and
was awestruck on how many trophies, pins, awards, framed letters
and memorabilia from the past 30 years or so Ed has accumulated.

Im about half Ed's age. Ed still can ride the wheels of his motorcycle,
I dont even try to keep up...and I have been riding most of my life.
Ed will go 100 miles over the snottyest terrain and not stop to take a breath.

I know everyone does not always agree with Ed. The lines he sometimes will
draw and then overstep sometimes will anger everyone, friend and foe.

But his heart is in the right place for our sake...the personal sacrifices in
time and energy and out of pocket $$$ for the cause of OHV recreation
are matched by no one I can think of.
