Anybody get any word on what is the status of new TRT reps?
If the rumor I hear is true, the answer to this question isn't pretty.

No decision yet, could be another two weeks. At least another two weeks. Seems the general idea was to have the new representatives in place by the Sand Sports Super Show but now that seems unreasonable apparently... just too many things going on, is what I was told.
I don't personally think that's the reason for the delay. IMHO it has more to do with keeping a group that you know supports you, rather than take your chance on putting a group in place who might actually rock the boat.
But I could be wrong.

I have not heard from the BLM, nor called them, yet. My thought was that enough was going on and that this had become a back burner item. If I do hear anything I will post it.

I called Neil and finally got a call back, but didn't get a chance to talk to him, but basically was told it is being postponed as well...
I agree with Vicki though... I think they are more afraid of people rocking the boat right now...

BLM Announces Members of Imperial Sand Dunes Technical Review Team
Bureau of Land Management (BLM) El Centro Field Office Manager Greg Thomsen announced today the members selected to serve on Imperial Sand Dunes Technical Review Team (TRT), which advises BLM on the management of the dunes.
"We had a number of qualified applicants and the decision was difficult, but I believe that the combination of the returning TRT members and the new appointees will serve the public well," said Thomsen. "I also encouraged those who were not selected to stay in contact with the TRT and participate in the public meetings."
Returning TRT members include Bob Ham representing Imperial County, Jerry Seaver representing Arizona off-highway vehicle (OHV) interests, and Harold Soens, Jim Bramham, and Larry Jowdy representing California OHV interests. New TRT members include Nicole Giles representing economic interests, Glenn Montgomery representing Yuma County, and Mike Cuff representing California OHV interests. One member of the California Desert District Advisory Council will also be appointed to serve on the TRT. All returning members will be on a one-year term and new members will be on a two year term.
The TRT's mission will be to "Provide input to the Bureau of Land Management, El Centro Field Office, on the prioritization of the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area Management Plan implementation schedule, and the use of use fee funds collected in the ISDRA to complete specific projects in the schedule."
The TRT meets two to three times a year, for more information visit the website at www.ca.blm.gov/elcentro or contact Neil Hamada, Dunes Manager, at 760-337-4451.

Thanks Vicki!
I haven't heard from Neil Hamada. The press release is all I've seen and was news to me as well. As soon as I find out more I'll post it.
I'm here for you all, be easy on this greenhorn.

Well here is the first problem. They should have contacted the TRT first and then done a press release. To me this shows that they don't communicate with the TRT very well.

Jeff has got this right, I'll take it a step further.
They don't communicate much with anyone outside the BLM at all?
  I hope Glen has a chance to communicate with US about things they don't communicate with him about...
If you know what I mean.... :?:

I know what you mean Steve. As you can see from my post above, I've already started doing that.

And I will go one step further. I hope the ass covering weasel that Neil is doesn't blow smoke up Glen's ass like he does with everyone else who doesn't fall in to the role of obsequious sycophant.
