Thanks for patiently waiting.
We'll be testing the first units in 3 to 4 weeks and we should have them on our shelves and ready for sale by the end of August.

No, this will be a much larger unit than that used on Jamie's S4.

Will the converter work with the HD4?

Yes, the torque converter I was referring to is for HD4, which will also work for the S4D (not the S4).

Whats gota be done to convert to the converter setup from the normal S4D. peace.gif
Oh and not that we will hold you to it, but about aprox. how many $$$$$.
Mendeola Transaxles

We do not have an approximate cost yet. As for the conversion, the length of the bellhousing will be a little over an inch longer so you will have to make the necessary adjustments to accomedate the increased overall length.

Just an aluminum spacer plate to accomadate the difference in lenght should work. Axles shouldn't be a problem. Please explane to us dummys How a the converter works on a standerd trans? peace.gif

Yah, this dummy wants to learn as well. What’s the advantage, how does it work and is it only for larger tranys, not 2D?

Easier on the drivetrain and one less pedal to deal with under race conditions. Works just like an auto trans when you shift it manually......

I like the idea- Jess

No, because the 2D is a synchro-box there is no torque converter for it (that we know of). Sorry.

I can tell you from experience racing Jamie Campbells ex car, the torque converter is amazing at saving the tranny parts. Our new combo is a stroker 590hp ls1 with the s4 and 35" BFG race tires, we have put over 1200 miles on this tranny. Our parts list in 1200 miles includes two sliders, one case, and normal misc bearings and seals, no r&p or gear sets and no failures.
This is the first car I drove with a torque converter and I wont go back to a clutch, only problem is you have to start it in gear. That means you start it in reverse back up, shut the motor down, put it in 1st and start it again to move forward. No big deal unless your in a tight spot like a three point turn. One more thing is you must keep the torque converter cool with heat exchangers and oil coolers.
Economy has side line racing this year but I think will sneak one in before the end of the year- cant wait!

We are working on the starting it in gear thing.
This is one reason we refrained from using the converter.
We felt it was a liability, and could not offer it to the off-road community.Yet
You are still using the small converter for the S4.
We have been working with larger converters with lower pressures and volume.
Heat exchanger is all that is needed.
Your 1 car is a bitchen car Jamie put allot of thought in to it I hope you get some more seat time in her.
Let us know if you need any help with the gearbox.

Larger converter = less heat sound like a win win. So will it be using the larger GM size bellhousing
