Full Version: SLAPPY'S BEST A DA MONTH AWARD...
GlamisDunes.com > Glamis Community > Slappy's Neighborhood
Slappy
August was a downright slapptacious month for the McScrappbook. There were quite a few McScrappbook pieces. Downhillin1 shared one of his little friends with us; RSD has been showing Neighborhood veteranism with consisted McScrappbook contributions; the Chumster is always good for a McScrappbook post; and a McScrappbook favorite, the Pastor, shared with us some of his best pieces Slap has ever seen, looks like time for a sermon. There were some brilliant pieces this past month, and Slap knows he missed a few of them, so please accept his apology.

There have been lots of emotions running high these past few months, and with the added heat, it has made for a difficult summer for all of us duners. New plans that have been thrown down at us from above have got us twisting and turning, and it isn't as simple as we were hoping it to be. So much is out of our control, and it burns us deep down inside. Our love for Mother Glamis runs just as deep, and thats why we are so passionate in our words. It has made us stronger as a community, but it has also created wounds within us, and Slap is hoping they will heal (Slap knows they will) .

The following piece be deserving Slappy's BEST A DA MONTH AWARD for the month of August. It came from the heart, and considering what we have all been through, it no doubt deserves top honors.

There is no doubt that Glamis issues bring out the best and the worst in all of us. Right now tensions are high and even I am finding my patience worn thin.

I had my rose-colored glasses yanked off my head last week when that revised plan came out, no doubt about that. For an eternal optimist, I cannot express how deeply that has effected me.

Does that mean I/we will stop trying to make it better? No, of course not. It only means that we approach the situation in a more cynical way. I/we won't stop trying until absolutely every avenue has been exhausted.

I understand this kind of persistence is not everyone's cup of tea, just as inaction is not my cup of tea. To each their own.

For me this fight has been nerve wracking and draining. I find that I am much less patient, tolerant or understanding right now and in looking back through some of my own posts, I see those less desirable qualities show through. I have already deleted one topic because of the direction I helped lead it in.

For allowing myself to get to that point, I am very sorry. For anyone I have snapped at or offended, please accept my apologies. I will do my best to curb that beast while these battles wage.

No one knows where this whole thing will end up... there are too many variables in the mix right now.

But one thing I hope we can count on is that when this is all said and done we can go back to campfires, toes in the sand, dune runs, cold drinks, friends, family, laughter, and everything else Glamis has to offer.

In the end, that's all any of us really wants.

Vicki
