Does this mean that all of your transaxles should get Synergyn-Syngear II 85-140?

You don't have to run the Synergyn but we do recommend you do.
An S4 typically uses 4.5 to 5 quarts.

Have U ran or dunn any testing on JOE GIBBS lube? Its 75w 110w synthetic. Weve switched to it in all our circle track engines and quick-change rear ends. There engine oils are great. They've got guys useing the rear end lube in transaxles in road race cars, and they run this in all the cup cars rear ends and transmissions on ovals and road courses. Our rear end temps went down cosiderably when we switched to it and dyno (rear end and trans dyno) no's are better also.

I'll get the phone # for U to Joe Gibbs and get U some prices. I'm in michigan so I don't think my sooure would help U much. I'm on vacation right now so I'll get U the #'s went I get back.

I would like to here from mendi if they have tryed this yet, with so many new synthetic lubes coming out everyday its hard to keep up with them and know what ones are good and what ones are just snake oil and cashing in on everybody elses hard work and copying them. It takes some time to do a proper test on lubes. and it really should be a real life test in a vehicle on a test track and ran hard then pulled apart and inspected with temp probes in several locations to keep track of whats going on. Hope we here fro MENDI on this.

How does Amsoil stack up to Synergyn? I have been running Amsoil in all my cars but not in the Medi because it came with Synergyn so that's what I used. Well now it's time to change the oil and I have some extra Amsoil 75-140. Should I just stick with the Synergyn or is Amsoil just as good?
Thanks,

What would be an excceptable way to change from say Redline heavy shockproof oil to another brand such as Synergyn. Do you just drain and refill or is there some way to flush the trans while still in the car???? Also how often do you need to change the fluid in a car that sees about 5 days of duneing a month in season.

Do you just drain and refill or is there some way to flush the trans while still in the car???? Also how often do you need to change the fluid in a car that sees about 5 days of duneing a month in season.THIS DEPEND ON THE AGRESSIVNESS OF DRIVING AND IF YOU FEEL THERE IS SOMETHING GOING ON WITH THE BOX.

Lubrication Engineers is good,USE 4 - 4.5 QUARTS IN A MD, REMEMBER IT WILL VENT OUT THE BREATHER DEPENDING ON THE RAKE OF THE ENGINE.

Almost everyone says to use the heavier oils like 75-140. My 2d has three fairly long seasons on it. Around 60 to 70 days per year. The pinion is shot, but the stock r&p's are known to wear out quickly. My first one only lasted two seasons using the recommended oil. Third gear which I'm almost always in is also dead as is the mainshaft bearing (cx11). All the other parts look fine. I was using mobil1 75-90 synthetic one quart over full with the breather line ran up to the rear deck line. I also did not change it during that time. I feel that the lighter oil gets in all the right places better than the heavy stuff. Right or wrong, I'm putting the same stuff back in cause that is the longest my tranny has EVER lasted. I used to break something at least once a season, sometimes every other trip.

what does everyone say about the redline shock proof heavy? or the regular redline synthetic. I have seen that the shockproof heavy it is thin yet sticks to everything so I would think that it is great. what are your thoughts? or should I just run Synergyn-Syngear II 85-140?

in my "opinion" i would use lubrication engineers or lat oil. those are the best ones we have run in our boxes. but not to say that others don't get the job done. i would also give the go ahead on : swepco, red line, and synergyn. but like all things we each have something we like more that others. the most important thing that you should do in regards to your mendeola, and i am sure ian will back me up on this one is put gear oil in the trans

I have been using RedLine Regular 80-140, and am still on the same tranny for 5 years now, only been gone through one for a clutch replacement, syncros, and seals. Nothing ever broken, last summer AZ transaxle went through it (for the first time) and said it looked hardly used, and to keep doing what I have been...
Now keep in mind, I dont powershift, or land under power, or try to shock the tranny... I let the car "talk to me" so it seems to be working...

Oil change update:
I know I always appreciate feedback on different oils so I figured I would share mine.
As I mentioned above I run Royal Purple. I ran all last season on the oil, tons of dune runs, and tons of sand highway runs.
I changed the oil this weekend and it was super clean. No metal, not even really metallic looking like other oil changes in the past.
From what I could see, I didnt even really need to change it.
Props to Mendeola & Royal purple, now lets try it again another season!

great advice...
replaced all the seat belts in my car this year. People don't realize they are dated. mine will be 4 years old soon. You are supposed to send in for inspection or replace every 2 years. you are also supposed to replace after an accident, they do stretch...

Swepco 203 is good oil it is a 80w-90w with Molybdenum Disulfide additive
you can run this in the box, but I would rather have a 80w-140w like Swepco 210
If you feel you need the Molybdenum Disulfide then there is the Swepco 212
The proof will be in a tear down and inspection of the gears in a season.
