Yuma is about 25 minutes from Gordon's and El Centro is about 45 minutes.
The Gordon's Well exit is after Brock Research Road, but berfore the rest area and Grays Well road (Buttercup)

I'd stay in Yuma. Lots of hotels right on the 16th street exit in Yuma. Super 8, Holiday Inn, Best Western Innsuites etc...
The Yuma Mall and lots of resuraunts in that same area too.

I actually timed how long it took me to get from Gordon's to Yuma. I started the timer when I pulled onto the on-ramp and stopped it when I pulled off on the 4th ave off ramp. It was almost 15 minutes exactly and I never went over the speed limit.
I didn't have my trailer with me though so I was able to do the full speed limit

While you're in Yuma drop me a message, our homebrew nights are slowing down but we've still got a couple of kegs that need to be drained so there may be a brew night this wednesday...and I believe it's friday we're planning an all grain brew at a friends house to celebrate another friend who's both coming back...and leaving.
SHOCKER

Yuma, at night hit up algo dunes or calexico. My friend has some hook ups on the clubs down there. Pretty fun, even though its mexico.
Just watch your shiat. I had a bunch of coolers and a toolbox stolen out of my boat/truck while in the calexico parking lot.
Oh and gordons is the 3rd exit i believe out of el centro. There is the broch or whateve research station and another exit then gordons. After gordons is grays well aka buttercup.

saw your crane out there.. there were 2 of them and they are some big effers..
What exactly is going on out there in laymans terms. Someone told me the Mexicans are a bit upset cause they might be losing some of thier water supply??
They made a pad that looks some 5000 sqft on the east side of the buttercup canal crossing and have a bunch of buildings ready to go in.. Looks to be a long big project..

the blue crane is going to drive 5000lb sheets of steel in the ground for a fake divert thing,-, the red crane is there to fly material out and down in to the canal(steel, forms wood).
our job starts at the gordons bridge and goes west 10-12- miles.
keiwit is at the pilot rock end , the pad was for office and such.
and yes the mexicans are pissed

they were getting 68,000 acre feet of water free a year from the old canal leaking thats 260,000 people over here. they though they had a historical right to the water buit we built the first canal and brought our share of water to the desert so screw them.
the buggy bridge will be open during the season and my company has stressed that we stay out of the duners way

hey there just a note , don't haul ass through the jobsite .
duners are allowed access but if you haul ass there will be problems ,as in a 631 scraper with a load weights in at 200 tons plus and they do NOT have brakes they will flatin a rail in a second , a yellow 4 seater flew by us yesterday at about 40mph plus with a rhino behind it. looked cool but slow down for the 20 secs in the job zone. we are building the next bridge for the crossing so that the duners will still be able to cross the new canal

Hey Elf, might be a dumb question, but have they graded any of the roads into dunebuggy flats, I assume you have equip that needs to get in and out of there with out getting stuck all the time, I know the big stuff can plow through, but I assumed along vendor row they may have graded that to get things in and out easier, along with our rigs of course. If not it sure would be nice. Thanks Kev

there are 2 bridges , the freeway one is open the canal one is closed during the week

I can't see the canal one being closed for long... even during the week... there are so many people that use that bridge its a traffic jam getting in and out of Gordons... The only other way out is crossing the canal at 5 mile drop (which isn't likely to happen if you're towing something big) or driving all the way north through Glamis to the 78.

I am thinking it is the bridge south of the freeway that crosses the canal? Not sure though.

I read they are building a whole new canal and tying it in at the different drops,so which side of the canal is the new one going to be at test hill? to the east, next to the freeway or to the west next to the hill.
