I've built three of 'em, and what you need to end up with a running, driving car and what you want are often hard to separate. But, here's my list:
Instrument panel and gauges
cooling package (includes radiator, fans, hoses, mounts, etc)
bypass shocks (10 tubes..this is optional, but to me, mandatory)
air cleaner assy
wiring harness
brake line kit
hardware kit (probably the best deal of all...everything clearly marked, and no 1,000 trips to the hardware store..

)
CV's and axles
pedal set (includes gas, clutch/brake, and turn brake)
power steering kit
seatbelts
whip assy
tail lights
dome light
battery kit
wheels/tires
steering wheel
lights
motor
tranny
The extra kits to me anyway are well worth the money. Everything is designed, and funco knows it works, and knows what you have. So if you have problems, you can call them, and they will understand what the "bronze elbow looking doo-hickey, with the long bolt and 5 washers" is that you are asking about, and will be able to get you going again in just a couple minutes.
To me, building the car is a big part of the fun. I don't think it would take the average person with normal mechanical skills 150 hours to build one. Grant's cars are very well designed, and go together better than any "bolt on" part I've ever seen in the 30+ years I've been playing with hot rods and off road stuff. I don't think you can go wrong with one of their kits (especially if you buy the additional items from them)
