I have been tuning my suspension since I finished the car last November. I have the front working great but then the bypass shocks kept losing pressure, causing me to bottom out alot. Had to refill with nitrogen all the time. The rear would hop alot no matter how much I adjusted the rebound out. I did alot of research and talked to many. I finally took off all 8 shocks and took them to King, they pretty much knew what my car was doing by looking at the adjustments on the bypass shocks. The front springs are good but need a little more on the compression. The rear they told me was over sprung, which caused the car to hop because the shock could not compress and absorb the bump. They are going to back off on the compression and give me some more rebound. My car is a lil bro LS1 w/ 2D 4 seat. The springs that are on the rear are 550 over 600, they recommend 400 over 500 for my setup with 2 inches of preload on the spring. If you are running a similar setup, What springs are you using and how does your car react? Don, Have you had any experience with other springs and what were the results? Thanks for any input

I was told by King that you want as much preload on the front and very little on the rear. As far as losing nitrogen most likely a leak. And the spring rate (550 / 600) sounds really wrong. Do your coil overs have reservoirs?
Talk to Don and ask him what is his normal set-up for your car; valving, spring rates etc...
The guys at King are top notch and have great customer service, the only issue I have seen is that for the most part they are Desert/Dirt guys and will set the car up too soft for the Sand (G-outs) so make sure they know what kind of riding you do most and ask them how much and what to adjust in case the car is to soft or stiff and how many people are in the car.
Good luck and Dune safe!

I started this thread in the hopes of getting some feedback on how other peoples SCU cars are handling . I must say that I am disappointed on the amount of response. I figured that people with these cars would be trying to get the maximum potential out of them,by sharing information on suspension setups. Either everyones cars are setup perfect or they are more interested in pictures of cars than the performance of them.

Suspension topics here are not that common. Most people are afraid to touch their bypasses, let alone the spring rate. Don should be able to give you some really good insight but it sounds like king is just about spot on with what they said.

on the rear of a lil bro... 2-d ,v8 it should be 550 over 600...with four people most of the time..or 500 over 600 or 550 with two most of the time.....lastly.....spring rate on bypass is not as important. as you might think.. you can be off on the spring rate.. if the shocks are set up corrrectly yay.gif

I have a Honda which obviously is lighter. Mine are 450 over 500.. cars works great. will bottom out on hard G outs with 4 people in the car but not bad enough to change it. I usually only have kids in the back. car works really well like that. If you go 400 over 500 and put 4 adults in the car I would think you would be sprung way too soft..
no gas
SPARKY JUST KEEP YOUR FOOT IN IT AND YOU WONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE BACK OF YOUR CAR BUCKING.

Dale,

I talked to bret king this week, he said he is in barstow almost every weekend tuning on peoples cars. You should get some dirts tires and take it out there. He says he hangs out near outlet center. Pm me ill get you more details.

Did this with my last car, car worked great in the dirt but the sand is different. one word "G" outs. Or is that two?
They made the car to soft, in the dirt you will not have the steep transitions of coming straight down a bowl then right back up.
It's to bad King won't do the sand.
surf and dune
Metertechs right, Barstow would be a total waste of time if your strickly dunin. I can do a 100mph through medium size woops with no hands,(not that I would) . But take it to the sand and it bottoms out everywhere. A totally different animal.
Sick Dayz
I would go with what Don is saying about the spring rates. He knows his cars.

As for the “G” outs. Reducing this, is the job of the bypass, not the springs. Once you get your bypasses adjusted correctly, you’ll be golden… thumb.gif
