So my company has Aetna, I need to see a Dr. TODAY, I go online to find a doc in their search, well i get like 150 results, I'm glad there's a lot to choose from but as far as I'm concerned they all are the same to me. Can anyone recommend a good general practice Dr around east county.
I don't want some old fart that that needs to turn his hearing aide up to hear about my problems.

I'm not in your area Bugsy, but I'd check to see if your plan covers any Osteopaths. They are traditionally trained docs that also study chiropractic. My experience has been that they tend to look at your whole health rather than just symptoms.

Agreed on the Osteo docs.
Try Dr. Adema in Santee, not sure if he is an Aetna Doc though.

We used to Drive to El Cajon to see a D.O. (Doctors of Osteopathy)
They are the best type of Dr. just like Wrench said.

Pin a dozen dr. names on a dart board. Grab a dart. Close your eyes and toss the dart. There is your doctor.
if you dont like him after this visit, repeat the process with his/her name off it.
Get there early also. You will have about an hours worth of paper work to do if this is your first visit..

^^thats exactly how i feel about this...
I have no idea WTF these people are and what their reputation is. I miss the Marine Corps way... Show up, sign in, see someone, walk to the pharmacy down the hall and pick up your Motrin.

a little off topic...but a good
I had a dermatology appointment a few weeks back @ 11:15 am. I roll in @ 11, and at the door is like 10 people. I thought they were a family waiting for someone....anyway, as I walk through the door, every single eff*ing seat is taken. standing room only.
I walk up to the counter and ask the lady if they are busy today...." yeah, were running 2 hours behind right now." I ask her what contact information she has for me, and she rattles off my cell phone #, to which I hold up in my hand and ask, " did you call me to tell me you were running 2 hours behind?"...................oh no, that's not our policy........and then even the eff*ing doctor had to throw his 2 eff*ing cents in...."yeah, that's not how we operate here."
I told them to cancel my appointment, and as I was walking out, the counter lady said, "sir when would you like to reschedule?"
loudest voice I have, and with everyone's attention in the waiting room...."If you don't have a problem wasting all these people's time because you schedule 2 patients every 15 minutes, then I am never coming back."
found another Derm, I was in and out in less than 30 minutes
I hate eff*ing doctors that LOVE to waste their patient's time

damn, they made you go to the pharmacy for your candy?? they just handed it to us..
Bugsy,
Just pick one close. Its not like your going to see him/her more than a few times a year anyways (if that). Go with the advice of the peeps above. After reading that, I might switch my pig of a doctor to one of those types as well. Mine is general practice and is decent - but I dont like having to go in 3 times before someone listens to me that its not a damn sinus infection etc with my ear ringing.. 4 months later - I finally got the OK to go see a specialists..

Yeah he is the one.
Wife has been seeing him for about two years, I went to him for the first time about a two months ago. Nice guy, isn't one of those take this prescription type guys, unless you specifically ask. Takes the time to find the root of your illness vs a bandaid, if you have one.
Only negative I have with him is that he usually about 10-20 minutes behind on your sched appt.

Crsty, Dr. Willis here in San Dimas is an osteopath. He runs his practice well. We've been with him for 7 years or so. He actually has me keep spares of my asthma meds, wrote down a schedule for me, as in: 1) Maintenance drugs 2) if those aren't working do this, if that doesn't work do #3, etc etc. AND if none of that works come see me. He also will refill meds that we keep in the trailer so that we are never caught out in the desert w/o pain killers or muscle relaxers.

Agreed on the "root of your illness", that seems to be the crux of osteopathic medicine.

Wait till you have to find a Pediatrician who actually takes the time to see what is wrong with your kid, some just rattle off a bunch
of prescriptions in the hope one of them cures whatever is wrong. Then when you do find one is who patient.....cross your fingers
you can understand them.

This is the only one we lucked out in. Dr. Gorton with Scripps. She is the head of neonatal and helped out with my first kid in making sure she survived (premie)etc.. Her appointments are on time and she refuses to give meds without knowing the pain. When other docs (urgent care) have given looks at the kids for those midnights ear infections - we always go see Dr Gorton the next day and almost always we are slightly mis diagnosed in the urgent cares..

/\/\ 100% True.
Ear Infection (Take some anitb's) and Viral Infection (Drink lots of liquids...)
Were the top 2.
Can't really blame the ER/Urgent Care Docs though....Theirs is a Tricky job.
