OK, So I got some video but it's about 7 min long and it's not much but some speed runs. I really want to edit it before I post it up but I've never edited a video before. I've been trying to do it for the last 2 hrs and I'm pretty much giving up tonight on it.

I'll mess with it again later in the week.

Here's a couple of pics I took.

A little fender rubbing. The suspension was cycling for sure this weekend

Loading up in the rain on Friday really sucked !!

I know !! I still can't believe it. This was the first time in 2 years that I didn't have to put a whip on my truck so I can get to the hill. Damn it's nice to finally have a toy again !!! beer.gif beer.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif Not to mention I think I only went through a 12 pack of beer all weekend sraptor.gif . Usually I'm sitting around at camp or at the hill throwing in another 30 pack in the cooler.

looking forward to Pres weekend. Going to drop off my paddles tomorrow to get shaved down. The buggy wasn't pulling the R's as hard as it should. Just too much paddle back there.

Nice time to do it up!!! Next we wanna see video though!!!

OK, bare with me on this video. the one I want to edit and post is 24MB and PhotoBucket won't allow that big of a file to post. So here's a short video of a bad pass I did to hold you over. wait until I get the other video up....MUCH BETTER. I guess this is just a little proof that it actually runs now.

I already dropped the paddles off to get shaved. It pulls real hard in every gear but it just wasn't getting into the power band like it would wiht the street tires. Just too much paddle cup on it.

OK, So I tried to edit out the real bad parts where the camera wondered off and shook real bad. Please don't shoot the video editor..First time....and yes I am keeping my day job.

I should be able to get the hang of it after a few times.

Looks great! How scary is it loading that thing onto the bed of the truck?

Thinking its time for a 5th wheel toyhauler icon_wink.gif

I use a winch to load it up now.

Well, from the first dune trip running the paddles I found out that the paddles were rubbing the Rear Bypass shocks. We thought we'd clear them but Found out we didn't:eek2:
We were also hitting the rear fender REAL bad. So bad that we took some chunks out of the paddles and ripped out one of the Dzus fastners.

We also were cycling the front suspension so much that it cought the hood and cracked it. So being the guiness I am, I just ripped it off and made it look worse.

Todd came over and did some more mods to it last night so I'll be dialed in for Pres. weekend. We knew we had to make new rear fender mounts so this is what todd came up with.

Old rear fender mount

New Fender mount with higher dzus mount and fenders cut higher

Old Hood - before cutting up

New High cut- not much left and I'm not digging it too much. I'm sure it will grow on me though

Today I went by King Shocks and picked up some new stickers for the rear shocks. Man it took awhile to get all that rubber and old sticker off

I also picked up the paddles from getting custom cut. This should allow more wheel spin and get me into my R's faster

King needs 2 weeks to custom make new top caps that will allow the res. to sit in another 1/2" so I bought some 1/2" wheel spacers to get me by for the weekend. That should keep the tire off the rear shocks. Really not the way I wanted to do it but Glamis is calling and I need to answer

That is one bad SXS! Don't forget to break out the video camera over the weekend - and upload them!

will do!

removed the foam from my fuel tank, cleaned my air filter and now trying to trouble shoot my GPS wiring. Looks like I forgot to hook up a second set of power and ground wires.

Relocating the fuel filter to the front firewall so I will easily be able to get to it by removing the hood instead of removing half of my interior panels.

Getting ready for Glamis next weekend !!!! who's going ?

waste of $$$. now sitting in the bottom of my trash can.

Foams all gone !!

removed the air filter and used some K&N degreaser on it.

trouble shooting the GPS wiring

Ok, So after driving my rhino/rail in Glamis at night I found out that it was VERY hard to find the Actuator switch while driving. I knew all my switches would be real close. such a small dash didn't leave me with much options. I looked everywhere for litted up rocker switches and I didn't find anything that I really like. So I came up with these LED's.
When I build my next dash (so I can lay out my switches different) I'm going to add a LED above every switch. Until then this should solve my problem.

I also relocated the fuel filter to the front fire wall so I can easily change the filter while out in the dunes. This should now be a 5 min. swap instead of 45 min. Well worth the $72. braided hose.

Also think I got the GPS working !!
as always, here's some pics.

Just pulled the rhino out of the garage and washed it. Man, I can't wait until October !!!!

Well, until then it'll just have to sit

drider
dang, I like how low you sit in your vehicle! I bet it feels bad ass!

Yes, it feels pretty awesome sitting that low. The top of the side doors are at your shoulders. Not good for duning though. Would be better if you sat a little higher and the roof was higher to see the dunes ahead.

Ok, So after the last Glamis night ride I came to realize that the HID ligts I was running weren't cutting it. I was running 8000K temp bulbs at 35W but only 2 of them would work. So I tossed those in the trash and went with new 55W Ballast and Bulbs in a 6000K Light temp. I also went with the new Slim ballast to cut down some weight and make a little more room between the light housings. Here's some pics of the old and new set up.

Old:

NEW:

I temp strapped everything on with tie-wraps and wired them up, Then plugged it in to make sure everything works.

Then I drilled out the holes to mount the Ballast and installed some SS Socket heads bolts and Nylon nuts for a more secure and better looking mount.

Also installed a New battery & Battery Cut off switch so my GPS doesn't run down my battery.

feedmelies
Can your charging system sustain all of that?
stetler
Well find out. I figured worst case, I'll not run my GPS at night. All my rear lights are LED.
feedmelies
I hope so!

You may have seen this already, but just in case:

Went to King last Monday and had it resprung. Trying to get the suspension dialed in this season So I can go Big.

stetler
Well, it's been a while since I've updated this thread. Today I tore out the drivers seat and removed the F/R shifter cable. When I bought it, it was just a little too short so I bought the extension rod for it. Well that lasted about a season then finally bent at the weak point. So I decided I'd better replace it with a new one a little longer. Got to get it dialed in for our annual Pismo 4th of July trip.

PITA !! Had to get way up in there between the motor and the side panel to remove the bolts holding the clamp. So I had to remove the seat.

good thing I am replacing the cable. I noticed that the cable was touching the motor and burning through the side of it. Would of been just a matter of time and I'd of had some issues out in the dunes.

Here's a pic of the extension rod I had to run.

stetler
Finally got my Azz in the garage and swapped out my paddles/smoothies to dirt tires. Gonna do some street testing this week to dial in the new shifteer cable before our first Glamis trip with the rhino.

Looking good! What size dirt tires did you end up running? I have some 215 75 r15 KM2s here to run, just wondering if I should have gone with the 235's or even the 30 x 9.50's. I will be running the Weller kit with the forn sprocket being a 12 and the rear a 55.
stetler
Thansk, I'm running the BFG Mud Terrains LT215/75R15. I put them through some hard stuff in Parker on the SCORE track. Lots of sharpe rocks and they held up good ! I was gonna go with a all-terrain but the weight was the same for the Mudd Terrain & I get them for $68.00 each Brand new so I bought 5 of them.
Don't get me wrong, There still heavy tanks compared to the sand rims/tires.
Process Specialist
How does your intake compare to the stock one on a loudness level? I have the stock one right now, but keep eyeballing the type you have made for the mini-sprint series.
