Well here it is:

Nice graphics almost makes paying the 90.00 not so painfull :dis:
Kinda funny the conversations going on at the booth....
Guy ahead of me say's " Well I don't mind paying more if it keeps some of the a$$holes from coming out" I said " Well you'll probably feel twice as good next year when it's 180.00! "
He said "come on its really not that much compared to the fun you have in Glamis" to which I said " Your right I'd pay 1000.00 dollars if I had to ...but that doesn't mean I have to like it!"
Then this other guy comes up and say's Excuse me how much is the pass? the lady says 90.00 the guy says WHAT??!! Are you crazy it was like 30 bucks last year! So me being the sensitive person I am says "what do you live in a cave?" to which the guy just stood for a second and then stomped off.... Pure comedy
Anyway this pass won't be too easy to duplicate with the foil logo and all for all those that thought they'd be able to......
At least it's kinda stylish :grenade:

They probably spent the extra $60 per pass just to come up with that foil logo. Seriously, how much do you think it cost for them to come up with and manufacture the new stylish design and foil hologram? Once again, the BLM is mismanaging the money they receive.
For 30 bucks I would be happy with the plain old boring passes made out of poster board.

Out of the thousands of people at the show, I wonder how many even knew about this mandatory pass, I bought mine and the serial # was in the 700's and this was late Saturday afternoon. BLM's gonna need law enforcement to calm the super angry guys that drove 5 hours, to spend another 90 bucks a vehicle... (or just the week pass)
And knowing what the printing industry costs are, I bet those passes weren't more than 25¢ to make...
Out of the thousands of people at the show, I wonder how many even knew about this mandatory pass,
Judging by the number of people we talked to, only a very small percentage have a clue.
I heard a lot of "well it will help keep the riff-raff out" to which we responded with "yeah, and also the families that can't so easily afford $25 for a tumble in the sand."
Then we'd try to tell them about the rest of the plan and watch them get really disgusted.
I had a chance to talk to some OHV leaders this weekend about the plan, the RAMP, and Glamis in general. One time when I was discussing the plan I was told that it's really just a guideline and the BLM doesn't have to follow it, seeming to suggest that maybe some of the things that are wrong with it will be resolved before implementation. Anybody else think this will really happen?
I was also told that there are better things to expend our energy on. I think the point he was trying to make is, the things that we feel are wrong with the plan are too small to worry about and that we should be looking at the big picture.
Now I guess he has a point, but I think that depends on how important those items are. For instance, maybe he doesn't particularly care that there is no system for purchasing a second vehicle pass. Or maybe he'll never have to buy a whip from the Glamis Beach Store because they've effectively forced the vendors off vendor row on a Tuesday. Or maybe he really believes that when they've committed to shooting for 26-50% compliance they'll try real hard for 90%.
I thought a lot about our priorities and wondered if we were just being too darn critical. After all, that was the second time I'd heard "we should look at what we are getting and stop being so picky."
But the one thing that I keep going back to is "why"? Had we truly exhausted all efforts before caving in? Had we really tried as hard as we could to mold the plan into something better before saying it's as good as it's going to get?
The answer to that is very simple. No, "we" had not.
And that's what I keep going back to.
Is the plan fair? Right? Accurate? No, in many ways. Can we live with it? Oh, I'm sure we could and I'm sure we'll have to.
But I still think we could have done better.
Sorry for the rant

I bought mine also. I asked the lady why theu didn't do teh 2nd pass, she had no clue and told me at ask one of teh BLM rangers. I didn't bother. I almost asked where's my complimentary roll of TP
The pass was the most expensive thing I bought, took me a few hours to get over it but I did. All to play at Glamis I guess is worth it :x
Thanks for the rant Vicki, would be nice if all org's felt the same way and would fight more against the BP.

But there is already a system for a second vehicle pass.
It cost me $90.
I always buy two passes, for my second vehicle or if my mom wants to come camp with us.
There will still be vendors around, you'll see. It may not be as easy for them, but they will find a way.
Of course, most people plan ahead and obtain their supplies at home, where it is cheaper and stock up on breakable parts, like whips.

DUNERS has been talking about starting up a program that will pool money for people who will be arriving at Glamis this season, totally unaware of the new fees, and will have a true hardship in paying them.
It's great that you are in a position to afford two passes... perhaps you will be one of the first to contribute to the pool when it's set up.
Yes, there will be vendors around. Especially since DUNERS and the ISDRA Vendor Coalition raised such a fuss about cutting mid-week vending off that they're actually taking a second look. For now, the vendors will be allowed mid-week and we'll keep working to bring that back to a permanent situation.
You're right Tim... most people do plan ahead. But that has nothing to do with whether the vendors should be there. You could look at it as "want versus need" but even that's not the point (although we have many instances where the vendors have provided emergency services mid-week).
The point really should be "why"? Why eliminate vending mid-week? We've been asking that since the RAMP came out and have yet to receive an answer that has nothing to do with protecting private enterprise.

Right now I was told you can buy them at the El Centro BLM office...
I'll check on whether they have them for sale at the Moreno Valley office and also I was asked to find out if they'd be at the off road expo in Pomona.
There was a phone number given for questions but that seems to be less than reliable so I'll try to get that confirmed too.

Well, they'll be available at the usual locations at the ISDRA so you can get them when you arrive, but other than that I haven't heard of them being available at any businesses or vendors (yet).
The business plan included an option for the passes to be sold by user organizations and vendors and/or businesses, allowing the orgs/businesses to purchase the passes at a discount.
But there seems to be a hitch in that plan right now. DUNERS has said all along that they would not be selling the passes so I haven't taken the time to get the details on the change but I'll add that to my list of questions

I've heard if you buy the seasonal pass at the ATM machines out there it's just a cheezy reciept... Is this true? If so, what shops in San Diego are selling the mirror hung passes? I'd be pissed if I buy the one out there, and it's a receipt that just ends up faded two months into the season!!!! I need to get one this week cause we're going this weekend!!!

If it is the same as past years, you get the receipt from the machine and then are supposed to bring it to the Ranger station for an actual pass.

And, will these passes be available at the machines.
This is news to us Zonies.

It's $25 per week and $90 per season.
Yes, the machines will be operating again this year. Same system as before... purchase your pass and then exchange the receipt for the real thing.
The good news is the parking contractor (who collects the fees and maintains the machines) has renegotiated their contract to a more reasonable percentage, giving more money back to the dunes.
There was some talk about vendors/business/user groups having the option of selling the passes too, but it will be up to the parking contractor to make that final decision.

It sucked having to send my receipt into BLM office. I only took like 3 weeks. But I was dying to get it. The receipt is cheesy to have. You would think BLM would want shops to carry them. It would make compliance greater
