Looking to purchase a slip on exhaust for my bike. Just bought the bikes in June and new to riding. I figure I buy the pipe first then the whole header system later. Looking to spend under $200 bucks for a slip on and I will re-jet. Any recommendations? Rather take performance over sound but both would be nice. Thanks
Been there dune that
I have heard the white bros. slip on is ok, my buddy has one and he likes it. I think it was about $ 200.00. Myself I would bite the bullet and buy the complete system. I just bought an ALIEN for mine $ 529.00. K&N & jetting extra. Should help tremendously. I can't wait to try it.

California’s new EPA Sound Level Limits Lowered
Effective January 1, 2003 there will be distinctions between the EPA sound test levels for “competition” and “EPA compliant” bikes. This law doesn’t affect used for closed course Supercross and motocross racing. However, is does affect bike ridden on public lands.

Competition OHV’s (CR’s, YZ’s, KX’s, RM’s, SX,s, etc.)
If manufactured before Jan. 1, 1998 the new limit is 101dB
If manufactured after Jan. 1, 1998 the new limit is 96dB

EPA compliant motorcycles and ATV’s (XR’s, WR’s, DR’s, KLX, KDX, etc.)
If manufactured before Jan. 1, 1986 the new limit is 101dB
If manufactured after Jan. 1,1986 the new limit is 96dB

I've tried a few, but now your limited to the 96db pipes, I don't think it is worth the risk to buy anything else. I have 5 4 white bros pipes, and they are ok, I also have a Big Gun, and it is great but way too noisy. The WB should be a safe bet, although I really can't see much of a difference by adding the header pipe, and I wouldn't spend the $$. Don't forget to take off the airbox lid, or saw some BIG holes in the top of it. If you really want some more HP. slam a 440 kit on it. laugh.gif

From what I've read buying the whole system is useless unless you have some sort of engine work on the bike. The 96 db kinda sucks, looks like sound levels are trying to be controlled everywhere. I have to worry about that with my boat now with my bike, that really blows. Would the White Bros or Pro Circuit pipes be under 96 db?

Hi Bear Down,

I sent you a PM

I am researching which Mfg's offer anything that complies

I beleive FMF is or was one of the only ones that had something, but there may be more by now. Also DMC Alien has the A1 Quiet Core Tip for use with there exhaust Systems $69.00

Try CT Racing. They have the disks on teh end that changes the sound. Of couse it also changes the power but it is still better than stock.

Hey tron. Where'd ya get the name from? Peace

White Bros has made the 96 db since 02', you just have to tell them you want the 96 db one, as opposed to the closed circuit/race one. I have one of them and can't tell much of a difference between them.

As Bear Down pointed out, there is not a huge increase in HP unless you open a few other things up. But by changing the pipe and modifying the air filter/box you can increase the jet sizes to cram more fuel down it. Even with these mods, you only add about 4-7 hp (or so the claims say) However, it sure makes it sound cool. The pipe alone only adds about 2 hp at max. Also, don't bother with the rev limiter unless you cam up. I know ATV Mag did a "pipe shoot out" so you may want to look it up. I know someone here has the link.

The name comes from the Disney movie some time back. Some people say I resemble that remark...

I called White Bros yesterday. The R4 slip on is 99 db pushing 100. The E-series is 95db and tunable. Which means you can remove baffle discs and open it up. If you get a ticket, just add the discs back and you are legal. Do any of you guys know about the E series. I'm buying a slip on this week. Troy out. :burn:

P.S. tron, the reason why I ask is because thats my last name. Tron
