i know this isnt sandrail related, but there are more engine guys in this section. it's a brand new engine and i dont want it to break or anything.

my truck is running rich up here in show low. it seems to be really rich, it sounds real loaded in mid to higher rpms and is really sluggish. so far this engine doesnt have any more power than my old one, i am hoping it's the tuning, cause i will be really pissed if this is how much power this has. i live in phoenix, az which is about 1100ft. i'm now up in show low, az for college, which is about 6500ft. is there anything i can do to make my truck run good in phoenix and show low? i go back home about once a month if not more and i would rather not have to get it tuned everytime i go home and back to school. so is there anything i can do to make it run good in both areas? the carb is a holley street avenger 770cfm.

oh and is there a needle adjustment to richen it or lean it out? or do i have re-jet it? i've looked around online and i couldnt find anything.

that is a really big carb for a small block street motor. Holly carbs do not have needles like the edelbrock carbs, you will have to rejet. Holly does have several different adjustments like the squirters and and the accelerator pump cam.
