I am in the process renewing my insurance which has just about doubled from last years rate. I have had coverage with the same company for
4 years without a claim. I'm wondering if I'm just throwing money away. I mean will they really be there if I need them. Has anyone made a
substantial claim? What was your experience?

Premiums have increased and less companies are writing this type of risk. They are getting an idea of how much risk is really out there. I must say that my agency has had some small and a few large claims and they have all gone well and as expected.
What choice do you have ? To not carry coverage ? The best thing you can do is be sure you understand your coverage and feel comfortable with the company and agent that you are working with. The policies I write I spend alot of time explaining coverage and options with those customers to be sure they know what there getting. Most of those people I am out in the same dunes with every weekend

I have a question for you!
My agent has been e-mailing me asking about me getting an "Umbrella" policie! What would this cover as far as my rail goes? She has told me already that her company (American Family) will not insure sandrails so I would guess I am screwed as far as theft goes, but is the umbrella a good idea??? I guess I will have to look elswhere for rail insurance! Do you give a multiple rail discount? I would like to insure my new one, and my old one (even though it will probably sit now unless someone is looking for a NICE Mazzone mid-engine show winner!)

Foremost paid out on a total loss. Make a recorded statement on the phone negotiate how much you want to buy the salvaged car back for and then the check is in the mail. There were no major injuries so I'm not sure how they are on that end. Having been through the process I'll gladly pay the increased rates. It makes for great peace of mind knowing that you're covered.

Read and familiarize yourself with your policy. Learn what all the coverages mean, limits, and what they cover, i.e. liability, property damage, comprehensive, collision, etc....

My last car was thru foremost, another buggy hit me in the dunes. It was a very easy process to file a claim, builder faxed over repair estimate they mailed out a check the next day. I would have gone with foremost but new car is over 50k. So I went with state farm hopefully I will never have to use it but a good piece of mind knowing it's their. I think everyone should at least carry liability the dunes are busy and accidents happen.

Just wondering, is it true that if your buggy is in your garage, its covered under your homeowners policy as long as all four wheels are removed?

No!!!! I hear people say that way too much. Your personal property from your home policy or contents on your r.v. does not extend to a vehicle being stored there. There is some policies that may cover parts if maybe not assembled, but dont count on that for normal coverage. Anything that needs its own registration needs it own coverage. Also I may be able to go to values up to $65k soon, I will keep all posted. plus a new a.s.a. members discount is offered.
Thanks, Jeff
