Click to view attachmentwhat would you do OR say to someone if you saw them OBVIOUSLY pulling away from a camp mess like this? is there NO pride? this makes me SO effin mad that people do not even have the consideration of a cat because at least a cat will try to burry what crap they leave! this picture was taken by a heads up member of this board! (this was borrowed from dawg56 and his post "trash at buttercup")

If you are going out there, do what you said in the other thread. Box it up and send it back to them, hell I would love to be able to do something like that.

sorry this is from a post by dawg56 trash at buttercup - I just borrowed the pic because I want to know if anyone would say something to someone leaving a shi**y mess like this - or if we would clean it up later at a dune clean up - I feel like i would try to approach them and ask them to please clean up there mess - remember i said obviously there mess - and kinda go from there depending on there responce. a couple of years ago there were some pigs leaving there camp and one of my daughters and I went over with a trash bag and she was throwing some stuff away - and they stopped and CAME BACK and the dad was embarresed and they took away most of there mess and not a word was exchanged other then him saying thank you for the trash bag.

There is nothing anyone can say to people like that that will change them or suddenly make them responsible duners/campers. Maybe a kind request at the time they're leaving might get 'em to clean it up (kind of like scolding a dog as it's about to piss on your living room carpet), other than that I think these people just don't give a damn, and may never. Don't even worry bro, that's why we have the cleanups and the cleanups give us responsible off-roaders more opportunities to enjoy the dunes, plus we get the satisfaction of doing the dirty work cleaning up after the idgits. It's all good. It still does make me mad too to see crap like this.

I think I'd ask them if they were planning on leaving that chit, as I walked over with trash bags to pick it up. Or pull out the 12 gauge...

i couldnt leave it there so i guess id start picking it up even if they seen me. but then also take a pic even cell phone pick of there license plate # and of the trash. i am sure if i took the picks to the blm or ranger after i got done cleaning it hopfully they would at least get a ticket mailed to them. if not well at least i know that the trash was not laying around from some azzhat.

We play a game with the kids in our camp and that is as we are ready to leave we put up a small reword for the person who can pick up the most trash and bring it back. So we usually end up picking up the stuff from other camps. The kids learn and have fun we go after them and pick up anything they missed. But if I saw this I would and have boxed it up and tried to follow them out and give it to them. Once the man felt so bad in front of his family I thought he was going to pop.

Unfreekin' real! Dirty slobs like that ruin it for the vast majority who are responsible campers. We ALWAYS leave our camp area and the surrounding area in better shape then when we came. I would take pictures of the pile of crap, take pictures of the license plate, and take it to the Rangers with a full description of the pigs that did it and let them deal with it. Then go back and pick the mess up cuz that is how I roll

I would walk straight up to their camp and ask if there was any specific reason they were leaving their crap.
If they didn't pick it up / I would take their picture and plate number....give it to a ranger...the police....and I would post it on the various duner sites.
I would also start picking it up fast...gather up enough of their crap....follow their rig while they were leaving and throw it at their car.
People like this need to be confronted.

Say something for sure! If everyone keeps quiet then they will never learn to pick up their own shi$! I like the idea of boxing it up and giving it back to them.

I'd stop them and ask them why they were leaving that s*** behind and let them know if they didnt clean it up they were going to get turned in to the rangers/cops. I'd make sure I got a license plate # and general rig description.

Once again, you are not going to change anything or anyone by doing all this confrontation bull$%!^. I do like the idea of pictures and personal accounts turned into the LEOs/rangers though. The pictures would need to be in context with them around the pile of crap in order to really "convict" them, but yeah. Confrontations only lead to arrests and jail time.

I havent had to call anyone out @ dumont yet... and have never been to Glamis. HOwever, I have in the past, and will continue to call people out @ Oceano. Not one person that I have called out about their trash has been negative and gotten nasty with me. And every time, I offer to help them.
sometimes some people need to be shown how to do it right......
i think the pic sent to the blm is a good idea. I wonder what they would do???

If you see them packing up and not heading for the trash pile ...just go up to them and tell the "oh I thought you might be out of trash bags" as your standing by the pile..and give them one of your trash bags

We carry extra bags given out by Glamis Pilot. That way I someone is getting ready to leave their mess behind, we just go over and ask if they need some extra garbage bags for their mess. They usually get the hint.

I was the one thyat found this pile. The picture is being used as a what if. The rig was already gone when we showed up. The pile was exactly as the picture shows, the magazine was not touched. it had appeared there was an attempt to put out the fire and there was pieces of trash thrown on top of that. there was some charring on the back of the magazine but the fire was probably cold enough not to ignite it. Even if the person who left the magzine was not responsible for the fire (which I am sure they were at least in the same group) they still left a large piece of trash (magazine) in the desert. If they let a friend have the magazine they need to be responsible enough to tell their friends to pick up their crap when they leave. Ihave no problam cleaning the area around my camp to do my part but I don't want to have to responsible for others garbage. A can here and there is not hard to pick up but this pile was out of control.
