Yeah I am slacking in that area. We have not been on the sand yet , It took longer then expected to dial the motor in .

Should be in the sand this weekend and should get more pics.

First weekend in the dunes is complete. 3 days of duning without one hicup. To busy duning, didn't take one picture. laughing.gif

Car was everything and more than what I expected. First ride out I was nervous as hell, couldn't keep up with the rest of the Funco boys. As the weekend progressed, I slowly became more & more comfortable in the car. Still has the great Funco handling, getting use to the powerband of the V8 and the tight shifting pattern of the Fortin was a little challenging at first, but by the end of the weekend, I'm feeeling very comfortable in the car.

Thank you to the Funco gang for building a kick arse car. thumb.gif

You got to be kidding us. One of the most celebrated builds on the board, long awaited new model, the specs that everyone wants, first time in the sand and ya' got no pictures. wife.gif

It's not right.

We're all glad you like it, but if we are going to continue to live vicariously through you we need the darn photos.

Okay, how about we settle for a more discriptive maiden voyage narration. moof.gif

duner21

SAND SEEKER
Real Nice Duane...... Thanks for the cold ones on the 20th..... 25cheers.gif See you soon.....
ONE-A-DAY
Nice.......its great how they kept the Funco traditional look but changed it enough so that the car takes on a whole new attitude. I am sorry, but to all the haters out there, I really dont think the word "minivan" comes to mind any more when looking at that bad boy.
tomfish1
Wow very cool for some reason never saw this at the show. Definately worth the wait! That by far is the best looking IMHO thing to ever come out of Funco. I like it a lot. Congrats. H A V E fun!!

PS mind if I ask what that thing weighed in at?

Never ran it with the tires that were on it at the show, way to big. We downsized both the front and rear. The Baja Pros work really well, and went from a 16.5 x 17 to a 14.5 x 17 on the rear. Big difference the 16.5's were almost 38" tall, the 14.5's are 33"-34" tall.
virginsand
This car looks better in real time than pictures. Very nice for sure.
duneflyer
For a 14.5 rear tire that thing looks pretty aggressive and still real flat for sliding, I may have to bum those from you for a run on my car and see how they work. I think those are about an inch or so taller than my 15x16.5 which would be perfect. Did they seem to slide real well?

Bohica,

Congrats on the beautiful new ride!! clap.gif

Inquiring Funco owners like me want to know your thoughts on a couple of things. As most people know if you ask funco what is the best power plant for the car, they will tell you they will handle best with a Subaru. Those who have Subaru’s, like myself, love them! But let’s face it we are all torque junkies at heart. This supercharged LS2 package is the coolest V8 package I’ve seen!! You have a great deal of experience with the Subaru and I would really love to hear your thoughts after switching to a V8.

What I would like to know is how the supercharger feels compared to the turbo? In your earlier post about this car you really seemed to want this package for the raw Torque required to pull the front end up at will, as opposed winding it up and side stepping the clutch. Is it at will and is the power controllable? Does the front end get light at the wrong times? Can you still achieve the quad type handling of a Subaru powered Funco or do you feel you lost something in the handling (extra weight)? Probably need a few more trips to really get the feel of it, but your thoughts would be very much appreciated when you feel like it!!

Thanks in advance!!

Paul

Bohica
While comparing the 2 cars, I would have to say for haul arse duning & sliding the Subaru car is going to be faster. Your not worried with the weight and the car will simply just go wherever you want it and when you want it. Even though your banging the gears alot while driving, it's hard to make a mistake with the Subaru car. With that said, I absolutely love my new V8 car. The Funco handling is still spot on, you just have to realize there's an extra couple of hundred pounds back there when sliding the car. With the 4" in extra wheel base and extra weight, the car is definitely a lost smoother thru the whoops and with the extra ride height and 3" shocks, no more Funco scoop. I can hit G outs a full throttle and I'm only running 36lbs of air in the front bags and 46 in the rear.

The turbo charged Subaru is no camparison to the V8 when it comes to torque. I can put the V8 in third gear and go anywhere. I can be lugging the car at 5mph and at an instant be going as fast as you want to go. It's a blast to drive thru the littel stuff just cruising around, see a bump, blip the throttle and your launching in the air. No turbo lag at all with the supercharger, its on with just the littlest throttle input. As far as wheelies go, I'm not a big wheelie guy, but it will wheelie whenever I tried. With the smaller paddle on the Dunesports, the wheel spin helps a lot while duning and doesn't make it wheelie machine. We did de-tune the motor a little bit to make the power more manageable. I've got about a dozen duning days on the new car and am feeling very comfortable driving it. Once you get the throttle control down, it becomes second nature just like the Subaru car with a tons more torque.

Im jealous.
