5 South to 8 East.
Thanksgiving is the most crowded weekend of the year. Weekend before shouldn't be too bad but many people have the same idea to avoid the crowds thus making it a more and more crowded weekend.
Weather will be perfect, as long as it's not windy.
You cannot escape the Buttercup crowd. You will have to travel several miles down the Canal to find peace and quiet at Gordons.

moving my trailer is no biggie to me if someones a retard so farther down the canal is better ??? is this where u enter at from the freeway?

The camping area is near the freeway exit. Giving specific direction will just sound confusing.
I think people who camp farger down the canal will travel along the Western side until you reach access point that goes across the canal.

The fact that you are going to Gordons Well is in itself a good idea to avoid the idiots. Most the craziness happens and Glamis, Gordons is alot more tame if you ask me. Buttercup gets congested during that weekend but its a quick ride from Gordons anyway. If you have any other questions I live just down the road from the dunes and am there every weekend. Feel free to ask.

And unlike at Glamis you are not forced to camp on the side of a paved road. There's plenty of room to stretch out at Gordon's in Dune Buggy Flats or on the other side of the canal to the west. As long as you have a strong truck with 4x4 there are many camping options at GW.

We stay in wash 12 or 14 most times but now are able to get into the compound as i was tired of the idiots. Seems I am a moron magnet HA HA . I have heard that with big rigs like a 40ft 5th wheel and even a 4x4 dullie you need to air down the tires?? Since I have never been I would like to give it a try. Getting a rig stuck is not fun, knock on wood I have not yet but have helped many that have.

where is this compound and how do you got there-camp-??????how much?

We've always had a good time at Buttercup, you just have to go over the hill past Plank Road. There is plenty of room, especially if you're arriving that early in the week.

The "Cul-de-Sac" can get very crowded, as does Midway. However, as said, that early in the week you can get a great spot on Midway and have easy access to both the roads and the dunes.

Take 5 South the 8 East, we usually fill up with water and last minute supplies in El Centro, then Buttercup is about 45 minutes East on 8. Take Gray's Well road and go right, where you'll actually be heading West along the freeway. Stop and get a pass if you don't already have one. Then stay on the road heading West. It comes up over a slight rise and after a few sweeping turns, Midway will be on the South (left) side of the road. Depending on how you want to orientate you rig, you can take the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd entry road and choose a spot.

Good Luck, have fun, and stay safe thumb.gif
