I thought you my be interested in seeing a couple of my ATC70's here in Australia. They have ATC200X engines with the top end moved to the front of the cases to fit in the 70 frames better. They are 218cc strokers with hot cams/pistons and all the usual go fast stuff. I will post a seperate image of the engine and my modified fuel tank. I widened the fuel 2" for greater capacity. I think it looks better than standard as it is the same width as the seat. The 70 on the left has an alloy frame as well. I am currently working on a 260cc version as well. These 70's have been going for 10 years and are ultra reliable and very fast.

need some advice with my 1tc 70 125m motor swap, WHAT REAR SPROCKET DO I USE? As the Atc 70 has a different (smaller) size chain. SO right now the fron sprocket on the 125 engine thats in it is big, but it still has the small atc 70 sprocket on it. I found some cheap atc 110 sprockets, would they work, they have 49 teeth?

Craig, Mikey, and myself use the 125m front sprocket, 125 428 chain and a atc 70 35 tooth rear sprocket. The chain doesn't fit perfectly as it leaves the rear sprocket but none of us have had any problems running it this way.

hmm. have you guys ever tried the 110 or 125 sprocket, im thinking with some machine work one of thsoe could fit, Im sure how they attach though as I dont have a 125 or 110 and looking at sprockets pics they look way differnet from the 70. SO what do you mean "it leaves the sprocket" that sounds scary?
Im putting mine on a suspension model so i dont know if that makes a diff or not.
Lastly i just found out that the trx 125s had reverse so Im looking for a complete 4 wheeler and I will have the 70 going backwards!

BTW do you thin a 125 rear axel will fit the ATC 70? If so that would be perfect? Have you 125 swappers tried that? Here are some pics so far, I want to make it look like a mini 350 complete with headlight white tank and all

you should add a mount from the head to the frame for extra support for the added weight of the 125 motor.
jmsmilin
Nov 3 2004, 07:35 AM
yup thats on my checklist, so will a 125 rear axel fit the atc 70? Or just the sprocket?
CRNACNAC
Nov 3 2004, 10:18 AM
the axels are different. The 125 sprocket is bolted, the 70 is splined onto the axel and has four tabs that plug into the drive drum.
jmsmilin
Nov 3 2004, 02:30 PM
damn so there is no other option but to use the stock rear sprocket?
Have you actually tried the 125 axle?
lastly what about changing out the front sprocket to the right size?
Im worried on mine due to the fact that it has the suspension and a chain tensioner that is unlike the stock atc, on mine the chain is relatively loose until you go, then the tensioner rides against it and makes it tight, so slippage could be possible...
let em know what you think, can you post some close ups of your chain against the sprocket?
CRNACNAC
Nov 3 2004, 06:44 PM
I have not tied a 125 rear axel.
You might be able to get someone to fabricate a sprocket out of both a 70 and 125 sprocket.
The front 125 sprocket is different also because of the hi/low range.
Mikey has a suspension frame identical to yours with the double "skateboard wheel" chain tensioner. He has had no problems with his chain.
I would take a pic of mine but I'm in full bling bling mode right now with this 70. It is stipped done with parts at the painters and chromers. I will take a pic of Mikey's on my next Glamis trip.
