i have seen a few guy's runnig the lumber jack 8 paddle 25" tires on the back. i have sheve, carb mod (stock carb) k and n bolts onto the carb rev box and hmf pipe. would it bog me down? any help?

I was given a ride up the center of Olds in 2wd by a guy
with a stock Rhino with 7 paddle 25 inch Gliders on Douglas
10 inch blue label wheels. He had the smooth buff fronts,
but left it in 2wd just to show me what they'll do. Needless
to say, I'm getting a set for the dunes. He said he got them
from Rhinocrap.

I second that. I was with my friend who had the same set up (no motor work except CDI/sheave, and LT) and his rhino was incredible. I drove it, I was amazed at how well those smooth buffs stuck to the sand. It was like it was glued down. He also got his from Rhinocrap. I have the Carlise 489s but I am seriously considering it now. I always heard that you neede motor work to make paddles perform out there, but apparently that isn't true. Great time this past weekend!

took my first trip this weekend with 7 paddle skats on back and smooth lumberjacks on front front 25 12/10. i ran 2 inch spacers all around, stock motor with sheave and carb upgrade from az sports center. i ran olds reading 21 at top, continued up and over and ran the big bowls, all in 2wd. amazing difference from last time out with mudlites on. i was so impressed i ordered 20 sets to sale out of the sunrise ford parts dept. all i can say is never would have believed the difference, if i did'nt feel it myself.

I just had a set of 26" mudlights buffed and put 7 paddles on the rear and mohawked the fronts. I am having them mounted this weekend. THey will hit the sand Thanksgiving.

you are missing the whole point with that setup. It is the rolling weight that helps nearly as much as the paddle itself it not more. Using the lightweight lumberjack tire f/r is a super light carcas and the douglas blue label 10" rim is the lightest combo available. The 10" rim is 3lbs lighter than the 12" rim which is 12 lbs of rolling mass for a 23hp motor. Not using the lightweight doulas rims you are only seeing half the performance you could be getting.

just remember, the reason the 251210 paddles with blue or black label rims work so well,is because of the weight factor. less weight to turn. mudlites shaved still are heavy. add a bead lock 14" rim very heavy. several people tried paddles a couple of years back, and hated them. if you try this set up let us know if it works.

I find my rhino runs way better in 4 Hi w/ the buffs ...The secret of the buffs up front is to have them spinnin to get the font end on top of the sand .. if you don't use a buff in 4 hi , ithe front will dig down in the sand hence, slowing you down..my .02

only one trip out with no problems. actually felt the rhino was not working as hard with paddles.drove in 2wd all weekend. no digging or bogging thats got to be better for motor and clutch.

are you using 25 12 10 lumberjack from skat? with there footprint they stay on top. i never experienced any digging, they just stayed glued to the sand.

Should I run 7 or 8 paddle? 25 or 26? 12 or 10" ?
which rims are working best?
2 seater, with LT, Bolt ons and Dry clutch conversion.
Trying to order today and every vendor seems to have a different suggestion.

I think I would run 25" for sure with the dry clutch thing you might be able to work the 8 paddles better but I think I would run 7's without more motor work. You already have the lt robbing power. As for rim size you can run a 10" rim without a spacer in the front if you grind off a tiny bit of the caliper otherwise you will need a small spacer in the front which you don't need w/ lt so maybe the 12" rim would be better for you, but it is heavier.
Also keep in mind these rims are offset quite a bit as it is so a 2" spacer is quite a lot. I run 1.5" in rear and 1" in front.

Man I am torn... Everyone seems to have a different thought on these.
Im pretty well decided on 26" because of the float. But 7 or 8 paddle seems to be the question.
Im thinkin 8" too because of weight..
