I've narrowed it down to these 2. one is 5799 otd the other is 6399 otd.
Just looking for opinions.

Thanks,
CHEFF
Raptor will satisfy your every need. Parts availibility, proven performance and i've got one too. It romps. Peace
Kevin
the predator, more stable, more power.
tron
As with most things, depends on who you are and what you like. I took a Raptor for a spin and didn't like it at all, too tall and too narrow. The pred get praise from the people that own it, but not allot of people own them. I don't like banshees since I prefer 4 strokes. Me, I own a bunch of Hondas, two of which I've made into 440's, and I just bought the new Yamaha 450 - cool bike.

Before buying, take a trip out and try them all if you can - you may change your mind. There *is* a difference on how they all ride. Unless you want to just race up Olds or at the drags, don't look at just HP ratings.

The good news is, all of them will be fun!
Kevin
you said it tron, the only reason i bought a predator is the fact i got to ride one at g to see what its like. i rode a rator out there and didnt like it at all, to tall and narrow, and didnt really seem fast enough for a 660. the new 450 is a nice bike but it too feels narrow, but the motor has awsome power and the suspension works better the faster you go.
CHEFF
Honda is the best overall package. But they don't have one out. Only in photo. Maybe after New Years. Peace

I got 2 , 03 Predator 500's, there pretty nice. I usually beat Raptors racing. The only time I've lost is if I miss a gear or too slow shifting. The only mods I have are exhausst and air filter. The Raptors is bigger I thought when I was looking at buying. I'm like 5'11" and the Predators just felt better sitting on it. The Raptor seemed too big for me. THe only dowside to the Predator I've seen is the availability of aftermarket parts. It's slowly getting better though. If I was getting a new quad today I would seriously look at the YFZ450 or the new Honda when it's out in a few months. But for the money Predators a good buy. I've had no problems what so ever, only fast and fun driving.
Sandpusher
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I have not yet been beaten by a predator.

Yes the predator is smaller and will be a better suit if you are 5'10" or smaller and ride in the dunes.

I am 5'10" but ride mostly desert (baja type of terrains), and believe me, bigger is better.

With the raptor, all you have to do is widen the A-arms and you got a much more stable quad than a Predator.

The predators comes at 500 plus pounds. The Raptor comes at 400 plus pounds. 500cc vs 660cc.

That's just my opinion, even with the new Yamaha 450, most people are widening the a-arms. Whatever you get, you will want to modify something.
Kevin
hey sandpusher, you been reading to many dirty mags like dirt wheels, the predator weighs around 430, not over 500
razorglare
Sandpusher the predator is 417 stock.

And you are right no matter which one anyone gets it gets modified.
redandblackonebanshee
Predator definitely
Bansh88
I've rode with both. I would ride neither but I would rather ride WITH a Preadtor. My roomate has a Raptor. He hates it. He rode someone elses Banshee all weekend.
thor
Thanks for all the input, I just picked up and 04 Predator. I like it so far.
Now I have to decide if I want to sell my Banshee.

What sand tires do you run.

I have skate2's on my shee, but am looking at the sand gecko's.
razorglare
I have Sand Skate II's and .160 douglas rims. There pretty nice for just general riding. Go to http://www.predatorowners.com/ you can find just about any info you want for the predator. biggrin.gif
Kevin
i run skat trak haulers extremes, great hook up and with sand tire unlimited rqazorbacks up front it still turns very well
redandblackonebanshee
keep the banshee, you might get a little scared on the Predator

I bagged on the Predator for a while. A while back I went out with bansh88 and a few others. jsyi was out on his predaturd and YAMAHASPORT took his wifes predator. I was very impressed by those bikes. Never liked the craptor. Good thing you bought the polaris. I'm sure you'll be happy with it. smile.gif
Bansh88
Yeah. some guy was on an old 87 Susuki 250. Thank god 1987 is over
Rubberneck
It was '89 peckerwood. biggrin.gif

I was looking at the raptor before I got my predator and after all the reviews biased or not I sat on both myself and the predator seemed better. I read reviews on forums of people who owned both and the predator people seemed to be happier with thier choice.

All bias aside I think the Predator is a good quad. I have only 2 complaints. The biggest is on one of mine it is almost imposible to get into nuetral, I'm taking in to get fixed. The other problem is only on the dirt and may be the rear tires, the preds like to slide the rear end easy. I know the 04 model they shortened the swing arm maybe to help this problem. I think maybe some good rear tires for the dirt would help also. But with my Sand Skates II's in the sand dunes it rides super fine.

The aftermarket mods are starting to pick up for it which is great. Big bore kits, swing arms, you name it now.

I would ride one, before I dised it too much.

Good point razorglare. I'm living proof of that. I dissed them until I was blue in the face. Once I actually saw them perform I realized they are a very nice bike.

I like it. we are going to Calico in the morning. Why don't you like the tires? they look good, I have hole shots for my banshee, maybe I should use those instead???
razorglare
I don't know if it's the tires or not, but the rear end likes to slide around in dirt. I was looking into getting either Maxxis Razr 2's or ITP MX or XCR's. I was going to get the ITP's but I've heard some really good stuff about the Maxxis Razr 2's. So, I'm back to waiting. I ride in some really soft dirt areas, the dirt gets like powder by this time with no rain. That might be part of the slide problem also, but I've heard others say the same thing so not sure. When my tires are all worn out which is happening fast I'll get the new ones and see then. smile.gif

The reason the rear slides a lot is the fact that the bike likes to keep the front end down-No weight transfer to the rear to hook up. I think that is why they shortened the swing arm for 04 to get better transfer.
Just my .02
