I know it was pretty warm this weekend so cooling temps would be a little higher. My LS1 ran in the hotest part of the day between 180 and 190 when I was wide open. I was wondering what other cars cooling temps were and if the temps I was running where ok. I just drained the radiator and replace the coolant with distilled water and wetter water. Any input would be great.

Last weekend in Havasu my 5.3L ran around the same. 180-190

Those temps are fine especially for how hot it was. I know a few of us got up to 210 while running hard a few times.

I ran around 200 all weekend, 206 at the highest.

my car runs 180-190 all the time hot or cold.

ive always been told 180-190 is a good operating water temp.

my ls1 ran 200-205... and no wetter water.. just straight up water.. I plan to add wetter to it.....

What temps would anyone consider running hot. When would it become a concern to look into trying to get the cooling temps down. A guy in our group was running in the 200's all weekend and was not really concerned. more input please

my motor guy said that ls1's in street can run up in the 250's....

My 632 big block was running 210 -230 oil temp never got above 190 was trying not to hurt it wife.gif all weekend my ls-1 was 180 -190 no wind shield just a basic sand car .The heat did concern me alot.

I heard the computer kills a couple of cylinders at 240 I may be wrong.

If you are consistently over 210 I think I would be concerned. If you are around 200 mostly or below I think you are fine.

Stock from GM they run 210 all day long in a stock car. anything below that is insurance. Drive it like U stoled it. beer.gif

210-230 is normal head temps if your coolant temp sender in in the pump you will show cooler temps
but that is not where gm puts there sensors yay.gif

Mine runs 180-190 hot or cold but Ive heard that they like to run between 210-220?? They start cutting cylinders at 235 or so

I was out in Sept. and it was HOT !, running hard in the bowls temp never went over 205 but I did back off at that point just for safety's sake ( safety of my wallet ). I would call Turnkey engines they have always answered my questions !!.

Mine runs about 185 most of the time. A couple of weeks ago hauling @^%$# in the Big bowls it went to 205 NO PROBLEMS The LS1 will go into a limp mode if it gets too hot about 235 or above to protect it from those drivers that don'tt check their guages.

We were discussing this a few weeks ago. Does anyone know what the difference in temperature might be between the two sensor locations (roughly)?

Good point, I have my temp sending unit in a head.
