Well, today I talked to a few people at Motoworld and Veys, they said that the trans on the raptor was really bad and the guy from Veys said that after buying it he went on his first ride and messed up the trans, do u guys have any problems with the trans or anything down there?

It is a yamaha and it has reverse, nuf said!

The early '01's had some trouble.

All others are fine.

Raptors with the shock reservoirs are also the ones with the good transmissions, and lower 1st 2nd. & 3rd ratios too.

Anything else you hear is pure fairy tales from Honda lovers.

No one rides more than me,, and my early '02's transmission has been excellent.

I ride an '02' and I have had no Trany Problems. I just know that the '01's did.
I have rode mine pretty hard in sand and in hard pack NO ENGINE/TRANY problems.

Oh and about the Reverse. Dont Hate!

Have an early, early,.....early 01'. Going on the fourth season, not one single problem. Zero! I use reverse all the f-n time. Must have been made on a Wen.? I will most likely rebuild the motor and trans way before it goes? Who knows, but not one issue. 8)

Yea, those without reverse must really hate.

Those w/out reverse aren't pussy's... and are strong enough to throw the front of the bike around.

out of (4) 01' raps in our camp,none of them have had to replace the tranny.its tough to say what the deal is.i have a pipe and race up the hill and still dont have problems.i hope i never do either.

02 and up are fine, i broke our 01 tranny in pismo...but here www.raptortranny.com

Hmm, I wasnt shure what to believe about the trannys' though because I heard from people that they were bad

well here is the rundown......01 raptor=bad tranny weak rear axle i know this from experience we broke the tranny and the axle is pretty crappy....02 and on are fine because they fixed the tranny axle AND have a piggy back rear shock...so unless you want to spend 900 bucks to fix the 01 problems....02 and newer

Is this true? Which 01's came with shock reseviors? Are there other differences (date sold, where sold, performance pkg...)?

all the changes were put on the 02's, and i doubt they did anything to late 01's but maybe...wooteva
