I have heard stories that the CR500 motor vibrates to much for this type of application. Anyone else ever hear of this?
SychoCR
so does anybody know if the 500 will fit the 200x?
Yamiboy
sycho i dont believe they will fit easily. think about it a 500 motor is water cooled and a 200x is air cooled. so youll have to find, build and mount the radiator in a good spot for it to work properly. i mean its not 100% undoable but it will take alot more work than if you were to find a water cooled 250r frame or even a air cooled yz490 to fit in the 200x. now those would be nice rides. but it never hurts to try.

You can always use an air cooled CR500 motor (1984). And yes they tend to break frames on ATV applications so the mounts must have anti-vibration fixins. Don't know why you would want to do a 200x, a 250r is a way better frame for this type of project. I can although see the glory in a 200x/500r. Good luck.

I don't think it will work. The 200x was not designed to mount that size a motor in the stock frame. The little 200cc by itself fits kinda snug, along with the major vibration problems the 500 puts out would be very uncomfortable to ride and would bust all the welds in the frame if not gusseted. Also you would have to use an 84 or older motor because of the lack space and mounting area for a radiator not to mention there is no room for a two stroke pipe.

If you decided to go ahead with this project then keep us posted on you progress.

Man I'm starting to miss my old 200X.

Hey tom... my lil bro just picked up a 200x the other day.. runs great.. new clutchplates and paddles and the drunken camp ***TCH will have something to ride...
DUNE
The 200X is a fun bike to ride but it is a little top heavy. Tell your lil bro to watch out for the roll over effect on off camber riding...

One of my worst crashes was on my 200X when I was doing like 2 mph and it rolled over, I went right into a cactus bush. OUCH

but you can wheelie them all day long
