Saw them at the sand show. Quality is way above Joyner but I still don't know much about them.

Interesting - The Motor anc CVT Trans...

better than joyner by a long shot. Joyner's are crap, no two ways around it. Light your wallet on fire, you would probably have more fun.

These are pretty decent cars for the money. Motor is GM at least...

And look like they were actually welded by a welder. Not with 2 12v batteries and some jumper cables like a joyner.

There was a 4 seat Joyner on a trailer in our complex today. I walked over to look at it thinking maybe they had brought the quality up after all the bashing they receive. No such luck; they still suck. I had my poker face on when the guy told me what he paid out the door with his upgrades. 2k more and he could have bought Simraks Desert Dynamics which is 1000x the car. I just don't get it. Of course I was a gentlman and congratulated him.
Back to the original thread, sorry for getting off track.

I looked at that car, the Velocity Panther F1, compared to the Joyner 2.0L that I bought. The price of the Velocity was the show stopper.
They were (at the time) asking $ 24,000 WITHOUT sand tires, so maybe $ 27,000 with them. The Joyner was 17,000 with sand tires.

Both are Chinese made with 1018 (cheap steel) tubing. The Velocity has much better quality but not to the tune of $ 10,000, that is an awful lot of money... you could nearly get a Federal/Sinister for that.

Since them, Velocity has lowered their price to 20,000 which would have swung the deal for me, but too late.

So I have 2 observations -
1. I believe the days of high priced sand cars are drawing to a close with the mortgage melt down.
2. There is a lot of snobbery on this board on behalf of high priced cars which seem to break just as often and are just as dangerous as the cheapies. Nobody has any proof that Chinese cars are dangerous, just a lot of conjecture about welds etc.... most serious accidents come form irresponsible driving and yahoo behavior, not broken welds.

Jury is still out on the Joyner, it has some quality issues but it wasnt $ 30,000 either.

i do not want to start a bunch of crap , but.................. are you trying to say that your joyner is as strong and well built, as say my predator , you could not possibly believe that ! i am not trying to downgrade your car , but you just trashed and i quote " high priced cars " lets be honest the quality of a chinese buggy is not at the same level as most of the "high priced cars " not trying to put you down just set this straight . there is a reason people are willing to pay for a strong chassis . i have sold chinese buggies at my store and very familar with them , i will be the first guy to say they have a place but they are not at the same level as most brand name builders out there . just like the atv"s are not at the same level as the japanese and american atv's . maybe one day but not this day . again not trying to berate you , but that statement is ,as i saw in a mad tv skit once " that's a falsity your honor " respectfully . tim
