I am so angry I cant think at the moment!!!!!!!! I knew this day would come, but i hoped it would not!! Someone has taken the 3 memorial crosses late last night ( Sat ) or early this Sunday morning! BLM and Imperial county claim they would not have touched them, and a RR worker told us that there are many crosses along the RR and they have never taken any down. Just all the wooden crosses are gone, the flowers and other items untouched. Im guessing vandals used them for fire wood! Just more disappointment from a small unwanted group of people that come to our happy place! Its sad that they infest all that is good and sacred in our lives!!

Not to point the finger---HINT!----but the Glamis Store put on a Freestyle event, H-bomb presents, Metal Mallisha and other groups with a very large following attended this weekend, groups that like to biuld large bonfires!!!!!!!!!!! I am not bashing these groups or the people that run them, but they do tend to bring a few radicals that make the whole picture look bad.
When u see videos of them throw anything and everything into bonfires and just plan out right destroy stuff with no remorse makes you think---mmmmm----those redwood crosses would be bitchen to burn, lets throw them in the fire!!! cool dude!!

If anyone has any info on this, please let me know! Myself and my freinds put a lot of care and feeling and heartace putting those crosses up for the familys and others to remember these beautiful young children lost in this tragic accident!
I cant put on this board what i would like to do to these individuals, but instead we can let people know who they are, get names and faces and try to ban them from organized events, the dunes, and anywhere we go!! And if they show up, we can alert the local law of what and who they are and stand for that is all bad!!! We don't need people like this around us and our families!

WE WILL FIND OUT WHO THESE PEOPLE ARE WITH EVERYONES HELP

icon_sad.gif What a shame...some people truly are heartless, uncaring scumbags. So sorry about that... icon_cry.gif

Guess they will have to be made of steel and cemented in the ground to make sure they stay there...
Pound Sand
WOW
I am already getting respones!! I was just told that individuals from the group " Sand sluts " were seen vandalizing a truck ( that did not belong to them ) that got stuck in a mudwhole near this area!
Maybe they should change there name to "Vandal sluts"

Whoever did such an outrageous things deserves what we call an "elevator ride" in my business!!!!!! Disgusting that anyone would do this.
sillaah67
That is so sad that some people have no respect. What if that was their loved one?
Derwud
Can we get an approval for a Stainless plaque mounted to a large rock? I can only supply the idea though..
Stu Padasole
well that is BS.. If I knew who did it I would nail them to a cross...
QueenGlamis
Very sad and most of us here cannot fathom the thought of anyone even thinking about doing this. But it ties into the thread here about how the Glamis crowd is becoming a very sad representation of what the lifestyle duners and people that actually respect and care for Glamis. http://www.glamisdunes.com/invision/index.php?showforum=7

I hope that you find out who did this Ed, may they rot in hell like the horrible people they are.
Me's Toy
I know someone that can make iron crosses, I will donate to get it done.

AzKillian
I am totally shocked! What comes around, goes around and I hope it comes hard for these pricks!
pipelayer
We'll be there and donate whatever $ and labor is needed.
Ed all I can say is when we find out who did this it's CLICK, CLICK, BOOM time!
The Pipe is Pissed!

Like I said.. I will be more then happy to fab up steel ones and cement them in on the weekend of the 14th. If you want me to do this please let me know and I will make it happen...

not a problem.. how tall do they need to be and how deep do you want to cement them in? I will do the rest. I will bring the crosses, shovels and concrete...
Wicked.Good
It makes me sick to my stomach that someone did this. The crosses you made were beautiful, Ed. Those SOB's are lucky that I didn't see them taking them. I'm not a very good shot so they would have suffered before I put them out of their misery. We'll bring our post hole digger with us. We can bring concrete or extra water or whatever. Let us know. MonkeyBiz and Yarder are staying with us that weekend, and I'm sure they'll help any way they can as well. Should we get three homer buckets to put the concrete in, and then put the crosses in the buckets?
pipelayer
As big as we can, I'll p.m.Ed a.k.a. pound sand in the a.m. and see what he thinks, I can cover the extra water and concrete, let me know what the steel materials cost, and i'll cover that too. Eff whoever did this needs an A$$ KICKIN, big time!
Stu Padasole
PM me with names, D.O.B., and date of the accident. I will have plates plasma cut with the info. and weld them onto the crosses permanently.. I will bring 3 80 lb. bags of concrete. should be enough to hold them in. I will make them long enough to go 2' into the ground. How tall do they need to be?
AzKillian
Maybe someone can set up a paypal donation site

not needed.. steel and cement doesn't cost that much and my labor is free... it will be 2 weeks before we can get them up, but they will be there permanently.
King Tim
it is hard for me to believe that someone would do that. i hope there's another explanation , but i can't imagine one . tim

PM me the time and I'll drive out and help dig the holes.
KingGlamis
Unreal. It's hard to imagine someone so friggen pathetic that they would steal crosses dedicated to lost duners. Get a rope.

But kudos to those of you stepping up to the plate to make it right. Awesome!
Wicked.Good
Hey OSoto, I am looking at the thread where the pictures of the original crosses are, they were very simple but very powerful when it came to words...."Samantha Bestwick - Age 14 - Died on the tracks - November 17, 2007" "Jacob Gonzales - Age 9 - Died on the tracks - November 17, 2007" I'm not sure about Amanda's, but it looks like it says "Amanda Gonzales - Age 15 - Died on the tracks - November 17, 2007" I think the actual date of her passing was November 23, but poundsand can probably shed more light on what to actually put on them.

Thanks a ton for offering to do this OSoto.

I'll bring an ice chest with water, sodas, etc for you guys while you're working.
Storman Norman
we went to put a flag up at 6pm. and all was there. I will also help make a perm. memorial.
Permagrin
Where might I ask were these were first placed?
Its very unfortunate that such a site would be desecrated so soon after a tragedy like this.
I sympathize with all involved.
But through the years there have been numerous attempts to put "Plaques,Crosses and other remembrances.
Afaik? They have all been taken down by the BLM. " Least they leave the flagpole alone".

I think you would have to have some type of approval for them to leave it where you put it.
Imho.
Stu Padasole
no problem at all.. just tell me what you want on them. My supply guy has a CNC plasme cutter. I will have plates cut for each one with the info. that way it will never fade, change, or anything.. It won't take that long to do. I am also going to go talk to a powder coater I know to see if he will powder coat them..

it's the train track property

So is the picture Storman Norman posted from today? Are the original Crosses for the kids still there or are they really gone?
Robbie
I've got a pic, a posthole digger and shovels at the compound.

I hope this despicable act haunts the conscience of of whoever did such a thing for the rest of their life.
Stu Padasole
I feel sorry for someone that is such a low life they have to do something like that to feel better about theirself...
It sucks, but we will fix it and make it so it doesn't happen again..

If I recall, that isn't BLM land there, they should have nothing to say about it.

And eff the people that did this.

But once again, the people of gd.com step up to help. You guys are awesome.

my wife and I were camping at roadrunner the week of the tradgedy with Ed (pound sand) and the gonzales family, and really have not yet brought myself to post about this or did not know what to say. My wife and I were very much involved during the times of the accurance and had Michael and Austin in our motorhome hanging out while the parents were at the hospital. The parents called from the hospital sunday night after the passing of Jacob and asked Ed if he could make some sort of memorial. First thing Monday morning Ed woke up drove into brawley and was there all day long getting the supplies he needed. tuesday morning Ed woke early and made the most beautiful memorial I have ever seen. He put his heart and soul into this and im sure this was not easy for him. Now to here of this just pisses me off. My wife I will be out at glamis the weekend of the 14th-16th and we would be honored to help in anyway to help get something back up to memorialize these lost loved ones. please call me and let me know what i can bring, and what time.

I already have what I need in my shop to fab up the crosses. I just need to get the plaques made. as it gets closer we will arrange when we want to meet there and exactly what we will need and who to do what. We will make sure this doesn't happen again. next time they will need a backhoe...
I am still very sorry for the families losses and feel good that there is something we can do for them. It doesn't ease the pain, but is ensures they are not forgotten and that others know how much they were loved..

I took a ride over this morning to see the Memorial and
Was kinda shocked to see nothing there but a few flowers

I once thought that a person who would steal from another person was the lowest life form.. I now stand corrected. If you find out who did this, count me in, bad things will happen to them. All souls affected by this tragedy are in our thoughts & prayers..

SN is it still there or not please clear this up. If its true they should be hung....no no drug behind a sand rail all day through the dunes.
Sandy Cheeks
I can't believe this. We were out there this weekend and went to the memorial on Saturday afternoon. It was the first time we had gone by there since the crosses were put up. It was so beautiful and touched my families hearts.

I'm amazed at how low some people will stoop. I thought seeing the truck that got stuck in the mud on sand highway vandalized was horrible but this is inconceivable. What kind of person would do this? I feel sick to my stomach just thinking about this!

We will be out there the weekend of th 14th staying in the compound. Anything you need, we'll be there to help!
