Full Version: Changing From 2d To S4 On A Lil Bro-ls2?

I'm considering buying a used Lil Bro. with LS2/2d. After reading all the horror stories, I'm inclined to just wait another season and build a new one with the S4 in it.

My question is what would be the rough costs/parts needed to upgrade the tranny and relevant parts?

I"m guessing the minimum: S4, upgrade to 934's from 930's, hubs(?), re work the frame tabs (re powdercoat). What else am I missing?

Those figures alone should put me into the 15k+ range if it's a new tranny. Are there reliable used-rebuilt transaxles out there?
Probably already answered my own question.

Thanks in advance

Your best bet is to go and talk with Don @ SCU might as well have the builder give you the low down.
Who knows you might be surprised what Don could build you a new one for.
Don builds all his cars with the best parts. The lil bro your looking at with the 2d will be a Rancho with all the upgrades. If it is a stock LS2 and the weight of the lil bro you should get good life out of the tranny. Driving style has alot to do with it.

Can't go wrong with SCU!

But I am a little bias

Thanks guys, I'll call Don.

What are the details on the SCU you are looking at. May be the same one I was looking at several months back. I decided to build a new SCU, wasnt much more than a used one.

I think the Fortin is much easier to mirgate from the 2D than the S4 will be... Don can confirm this but the Fortin case is about the same size as the 2D case and stronger than the S4.. If it were me, I would go Fortin..

I can confirm this.
I don't own a SU, but I did a 2D to Fortin swap.
The S4 is much longer than the 2D, so you have to have the room up there.
The Fortin doesn't require much more room.
You can use the same front mounts, the rears have to be changed.
You can run the same axles with the Fortin, not sure on the S4.
