GRANT@FUNCO
It's been a rough time sending guys away because we were not compliant . Too much to lose from our end, but more importantly to put a customer in a bad place.

Signed Sealed and almost delivered

Thanks to CBM we can start selling CA cars again . All we are waiting for is the emissions stickers to come from their printer and our customer can pick it up .... and it's all legal

LS2 , Fly by wire throttle, Cats and off we go.

Grant - will a turbo subi ever be an option again in a Funco, or any other turnkey car in CA again? Just curious.

Trust me it has been tough. I know we have lost sales to guys that are loosely interpreting the regs and working loopholes. We just chose not to risk it.

do they ever have to get smog tested again ?
offroadclutchguy
For the folks out there that want to know about smog compliant turbo set ups, it is and can be done. As for the good folks at both Funco and CBM, good to hear all that time Chris has put in at the testing facility has payed off. Both companies are owed alot of props by not just the folks buying product, but, by those of us in the industry selling as well. Hopfully we can now go on to put out cars for folks to enjoy once again. Thanks from us little guys at RHE
CBM
Dont know the exact loss yet on horsepower, but the driveability with the throttle body is amazing

I don't think so; I think that is what the Certification takes care of. There is no means to test them after the sale.
That is why the Certification process is so strict. Now if the engine builders get caught selling a non-compliant motor watch out the fine will be huge.................

Congrats to CBM and Funco! clap1.gif clap1.gif clap1.gif Hard work like yours is what will keep this sport alive.

Good job Bruce.
Went by SCU today and saw the new motor set-up; other than the throttle body being a little different and the gas pedal you would never know. And the Gibson headers/CAT turned out alot better than ever imagined; a little longer than normal but again hard to tell any difference.
Great job!!!!!

I bet performance will be better than expected too; I would even guess this new motor makes more Torque than the non-compliant also.

Grant,

Want to say 'Thanks' to you for this was NOT a project that John@SU, I and you did really want to take on and tackle but, we got the ball rolling way back in Apr. '06 approx. kept it going & it took until now to get it handled. What a team we made. smile.gif

It was great working with you as front runners and bringing more and more people and industry motor guys on board.
Thanks to CBM,Turnkey,Outback,Metric,C&G,Redline and lots of others for coming together for us (our industry) and for going along with us since the beginning. We (the industry) had to get there and for those who took the time for meetings, trips and time in- We appreciate you.

Thanks to ORBA as well for their time and help in getting our industry compliant and legal. You listened and organized us.

We did good buddy smile.gif Congrats. and hope all goes easier for you now in selling cars. I know you and John@SU are humble people and love to help other's- but this is a special 'Pat on the Back'. You guys really made a difference and pushed things along from the beginning kept this issue alive behind the scenes until it couldn't be ignored.

You two men are TOPS, in my book. (ok I have to say that because John is my husband..but it's true). But truly industry leaders in so many ways.

I am very proud of being apart of this fight and issue and happy it only took close to 2 years to work it out! Yikes~ icon_sad.gif

Thanks for stepping up with us on this. Now if we could only get a handle on the ASA dunes issues and get them over with.. life would be grand. smile.gif

Once again, it was great working with you on this; as one of our last hands on issues. ~

Look at the pics . We chose not to use the horney looking pedal and instead remote mounted the unit and ran our standard proven set up to actuate the servo
Crowdog
Congrats guys. Car looks great. Gibson silencer/cat looks great. Can't wait to hear how the engine performs.

Well, it certainly looks like quite a lot of people were involved in making this happen.

Congratulations to EVERYONE who had a hand in this, I'm sure it was a great deal of work for ALL involved.
