I know vegi oil works pretty good. I found a guy with 6 55 gallon drums of palm oil for 25$ each. With the price of gas rising I'm looking for an alternative to burn in the smudge pot. Anyone know anything about palm oil or what it's similar to?

If it will burn and burn clean, it will work.

These things will burn almost any fluid that's flammable.
I wonder what palm oil smells like, might be nice.

So, yeah, I'd say it burns...

mix with naptha to make napalm, i think.

I'm gonna call the guy he is in santa ana. I'm hoping he will give me a few gallons to see if it smells bad when burning. Im just gonna need some help picking it up with my back jacked up right now. Transporting 55 gallon drums is a pia anyways maybe I'll take the trailer and some buddies and get them all.

Palm oil has a smoke point of 450F... same as peanut oil... so it should burn no problem in the smudge pot...

It would be badass if it smelled like coconuts when burning.

no food smells in the smudgie! it makes everyone hungry ...think scotty_ burned some McDonald's fryer oil one time and had everyone in camp ready to make a midnight run to brawley

On a completely unrelated note --- I'll be selling dollar double cheeseburgers at the pound on new years for 5 dollars a piece.

I have some used oil from a restuarant...it smells like fries and chicken strips when burning.
If the pot heads congregate by my trailer at midnight you'll know why.

I live in Orange and have a flat bed trailer you can use if you need to transport them home. If you had an extra drum I could buy that would be nice too but if not your more than welcome to borrow my trailer if you need. Just PM me.

I'm waiting for the guy to call me back. I'm only planning on keeping 2-3. I may take you up on that stetler, It would be easier than using th TH. I'll pm when I talk to the guy ( I hope he doesn't flake).

I picked up alot of veggie oil from another source. I'm gonna bring all I can fit for new years! I was thinking $5 a jug to help offset my gas costs to pick it up if anybody wants some.
