Regarding the 2D,
Just so I am straight on this because in one response it says it's ok to lug 3rd at 30, then in another it says no.
When duning.. Is 4000-4500 rpm's in second gear with an occasional rev to 5500 best ----or---- 2500-3000 rpm in third with an occasional rev to 4500 best?
Max torque comes in at 4-5000 rpm and max HP is at 5500 on my dyno sheet.
And are you saying we should replace the bearings after dyno runs too?
Thanks

Vehicle weight comes into play (a lighter car with the exact same gearing and HP will have a diffrent feel all together) ... when you are driving around in say third gear, at what rpm does the car feel slugish and at what rpm does it feel lighter. What kind of motor is this most four cylinder motors are exempt to a point since there torque numbers are way below that of a V8 motor.

Car weighs 1700ish.
3rd gear doesn't feel sluggish unless I am down below 1500rpm.
Motor is a 3.5 turbo honda @ 7 psi. roughly 350 hp/tq at flywheel.

Your car is light, my example is for heavier cars with V8's. I imagine it does not take much to get your car moving. I would say stay just above 1500rpm, but again your car is light.

I haven't weighed my car, but my guess would be in 2200 range. I run a 327 chevy probably 350hp or so....maybe less. I run 33" blasters and always keep at least 13psi in them. I mainly run the dunes in 2nd, and will shift to 3rd on faster bowls. I only use 1st to get out of camp. I bought a Ebox from McDowell 3 years ago ( 3 full dune seasons) with the ratios of

R+P 5.14
1ST 2.90
2ND 1.93
3RD 1.50
4TH 1.18

I have not had one issue with it. I don't go out and beat the shit out of it, ie double clutching etc. It does see some whoops, I will jump it, but land off the gas. I've lost probaby 4 CV's , but the trans seems fine. I was thinking about taking it back to McDowell to have it freshened up, but still not sure.

HV,
I say you are doing pretty good, your car is on the upper boundaries for the weight and has more horsepower than we would like to see mated to an Ebox but, you have made it work. I would definetly have it freshened up. But it sounds like you know what you are doing.
