The race was great. I had a great time on my first race. The track was killer. Lots of damage. I got 15th place out of 42 vehicles. I am pretty happy. The Rzr's kicked butt out there. I was very impressed by their performance on the track. They seemd to have an advantage over the Rhinos.

Here are the top finishers....

Brent Spooner
Shan Aksamit
Chad Mitta
Doug Mittag
Bren Fouch
Chris Rademacher
Todd Arthur

Hey Gang ,, Now that was a RACE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I Just got home and put things away a little while ago.
I was helping out as a flagman at the race ALL day ..
My spot was where you Popped up out of the riverbed at that " LITTLE " jump ,,under the blue cover

Some of those rhinos caught some really good air off that jump
At one time there was 2 Rhinos and one RZR brokebown down in that riverbead section . MAN there was some bad ass whopps thru there

When the Pro - Bikes came by that jump , some must of cleared 40 to 50 Ft. of that jump !!!!!

What a day of racing ... Also
Way to go MIKE !!!!
Everything seemed to go real smooth. Can't wait till next year yay.gif yay.gif

Throttle Junkies website should have a bunch of pics up within a couple of days, and I will try to get mine going in a few.

Just got back from the track right now and it has been a long week. So I'm gonna get some much needed rest for now.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the track and the whole atmosphere at the event.

Eat Dirt-That was me in the red RZR that stopped by to take some pics a couple of times throughout the day. Never did run into your old buddies from the rez. Thanks for helping out.

It was our first race too. We started right next to mikef on the start, and had a horrible launch. Inbetween the really heavy desert car, the stock motor and the stock clutch, not to mention the 250+ lb codriver smile.gif, we had no chance against all those fully built short course cars, and those pesky RZRs smile.gif

We were just about dead last going into the first turn, but passed about 10 cars in the first turn, and probably 4 or 5 more before we even got out of the infield. We had a great race from there on, with no problems. Our only slow down was when a rhino flipped over in the tight ravine, and we stopped to help him flip back over, and we lost about 6 spots waiting for my co-driver to put his belts back on. Not worth the risk of getting hurt, especially when its our first race, and really only a shake down...

We made our way all the way up to 12th out of 47. The car worked great, and was awesome in the rough. We had a few new car teething problems, but nothing serious. I still havent figured out the sever left hand turn bog Im getting, but well get it eventually. I cant wait until we can get the PDM clutch in, and a decent motor built. Its going to be a blast. The course was really cool, with lots of varied terrains. Everone in our group had a lot of fun.

Id like to thank Soboba for putting on the race. Pretty much everything went smooth, and everyone I dealt with was super nice and friendly. I cant wait for the next one, and I think we should all push Soboba to do this twice a year instead of just once!!! smile.gif

Id like to thank Tim Berendes for building me a great car, SPS (getpipe.com), UMP Super Filters, and Mason Motorsports for such a great suspension. And I would like to also thank our newest racing partners, Racin For a Cure (racinforacure.com) for their support. And a special thanks goes out to Gear One for building such a strong steering box that survived 2 laps hanging on for dear life with only 2 of the 4 bolts just barely holding it on! smile.gif

Now its time to finish up the car and get ready for the Blue Water Grand Prix in May.

Ill post action shots as soon as I get them.

When I got a list of the results they told me that they had the number 2 car messed up. They had 2 of them on the track and they got messed up.

That is funny. I guess you were wearing the orange shirt. I didnt know you were going to be there. I would of loved to met you. Now that I know I will watch for you next time.

Wild Earp was right next to me in the start and we traded spots a few times. I just found that out too. I have been to his house and I still havent even met him. I would of liked to met him too. We need name tags.

Wild Earp..... Did you notice the roof on my Rhino?

Yep.... There was only 1 class. We had to run with the big boys. I had a great time.
ravencr
One thing I noticed about running with the big boys was it helped me realized just how fast/hard to push it. I was worried about the first turn and just how hard everyone was going to hit the jumps, but after the first turn and the first couple of jumps, I felt a lot better. Everybody was rolling the jumps, because they were so steep which I was happy to see. smile.gif

Mike, didnt even realize it was you, but finally made the connection. Dang thats a nice looking roof you got there! smile.gif

They told us 18th the day of the race, but we were 12th on the official results. But the car in front of us on the official results is correct, so Im pretty sure theyre close atleast. There will always be some mistakes, especially with how muddy it was. You couldn't make out my numbers very well after 2 laps, I was worried we wouldnt get scored right, and I had that number on there 5 times! smile.gif

Chris, Im feel you! I had never jumped the rhino ever before this race, and was super nervous about those jumps too, but after the start, I felt alot better, and it was foot the floor from there on!

I rolled through every jump, expect when I made a mistake or got overly excited. There was no way without long travel I was going to be blasting them, but I sure was happy to see that most others felt the same way. smile.gif
