ok im looking to upgrade my lighting system so i can run four lights. my questions is who out there have heard of a company that copied the lazer star style before they had a chance to copy right it?
ron @ lazer stars im just doing research on it. dont want you to think im going behind your back cuz i have a question for you as well. i got a buddy saying he an get lazerstars at cost from a connection he has. i know he can cuz he has them on his bike and his wifes as well. he claims he can get some for $160 at cost for the basic ones i guess. for a 2002 banshee. i thought that sounded alittle steep or am i just thniking that is. ron let me know.
anyone help me out im tryin to find out a good light besides lazer stars just so i can compare/ contrast them.
thanks

Ricky Stators ALuminators are similar but not copied. The housing is different and the way the bulb is help in is different.
Also Trail Tech makes similar lights.

I'm running a internet special on 35 spots in the old style Shorty. $160 sounds like a little over list for the basic set of light for a Banshee. Not including and brackets.
Ricky is not a direct copy Trail Tech is... We'll be launching a low-end line early next year...

My cousin and a buddy have Trail techs and both of them have had problems with the bulbs burning out due to vibration.

just buy the bulbs from lazer star, they seem to be a little better about vibrations.

so far i cant say anything good about trailtechs product but their customer service is incredible.the raptor is the problem with vibration more than any bike so you may have a chance with your banshee.i know i've seen a post from laserstar saying they had a problem with vibration also and seem to think they have it solved.most companies had to go through the learning curve and hopefully have it solved.i got retrofitted with some antivibe plate and have done everything i can think of to solve it.next trip with tell the truth.i will post the experience for all.

dude, i bought lazerstars for my raptor and the light quality is good, but the product quality was s***. stripped hex nuts, and the main bolt to hold one of the housings was stripped and GLUED in place. the thing fragged apart , was very dissapointed. i am sure i could have taken it back when i saw there was a prob, but i was leaving that night for mama glamis and didnt have time to take the stars off and put the stocker lights back on. they are the 50 watts lights, so on a good note, they are a very bright/white clear light, but i would never buy them again.

well i pieced them together and came up with Empi brand lights w/ 55watt bulbs in them with a lazer star bracket. the whole thing cost me $120 all together. i got a hook up on the lights so thats the main reason it was soo cheap. the two lights cost me only $50 and the bracket cost me about $70.
thanks for the insite and info.

I have a set of trail tech lights on my raptor, loved them so much I put them on my warrior as well, I did have a problem with blown lights and one completely fell apart, I called trail tech, they sent me 2 bulbs, 2 connectors, their new anti vibe posts for both bikes, 2 new billet mounting plates, and I had them within 3 days at no cost to me, their customer service rocks, I have the endurance computer also, with the anti vibe posts so far so good, ridden about 130 miles thru the dunes, with only one small problem which was my fault, I forgot to tighten one of the set screws and the bulb popped when it hit my handlebars. I put 1 35W flood and 1 35W spot on the warrior, and 1 50W spot and 1 50W flood on the raptor, great combo.

I find your story extremly interesting...
STRIPPED hex nuts? Were they on the mounting stud? or?
The Glue your referring to is to seal the wires so water doesn't come up into the light and has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MOUNTING or holding the mounting to the light. How do you know it was stripped, was it loose? Did you try tightining it on your own? What caused you to come across this issue? Unless you wiped out and damaged the light, what your complaining about is covered under our warranty and I would like the opprotunity to make it right. We surely can't learn, correct and improve if we don't hear about issues coming up. Hearing about it like this just plain sucks...
Please contact me so I can take care of it for you. Oh and Yamiboy, good luck with your Empi units.

hey Chopped, I think it is pretty cool for you to step up and want to take care of business, out of the many many distributors and manufacturers I have delt with, very few will take responsibility for their own product, and be willing to fix the problem, my compliments go to you, and if I have a need for lazerstars in the future, I will contact you.

Of the few problems with Lazerstars I remember on this board, Ron has always stood behind his product and tried to make it right. In fact, I only remember one other problem and that was years ago.

Mr Liver- The hex nuts were the small ones on the stud. one was stripped on the threads, the other was rounded and couldnt be tightened so one light still floats left and right because i have them mounted sideways on raptor mount. I figured that the glue was there inside the housing for waterproofing, but it was the only thing holding the nut tight. Sorry to report, but this was all straight out of the package from the SSSS. I have used 2200lb marine epoxy to seal the housing and loose nut, so thats a done issue.
i know if i would have been patient and brought back the goods i would have been taken care of, but like i said, i was on the way out and the stock lights were already taken off.
Thank for stepping up tho, its cool to see people stand by their product when most people just turn the other way.

Let me have it anyway. If I can't fix it, I'll replace it. Our QC is usually much better at that sort of thing. Thanks for your support guys.
