Could some one explain the background of questioning the wisdom of the 14 and under ATV training certificate by Bob Mason of ASA of the ICSO at this meeting and the enforcement by the ISCO of the same?

I didn't make this and have yet to see/hear the minutes... not sure what you mean dunno.gif what was the question asked?

From what I've been told recently, there was an exchange between Mr. Mason and the ICS Deputy over their enforcement of safety certificates for 14 and under ATV operators. I understand Mr. Mason provided there was no places to get certified and the law was wrong.

Again, I was not there but have been informed by a couple of attendees of this exchange.

I'd like to hear "the other side of the story"?

Stay tuned... I'm working on the audio recordings. Got to convert them to MP3 before they can be uploaded to www.isdratrt.org. Dang real job is cutting into my volunteer time again.

Hey Glenn, any progress on the audio recordings?

Seems as if what I was looking to hear has a direct bearing on SB 1228, the ATV safety bill that just had a hearing this week in Sacramento.

Yes just when I was convincing myself my fears over 2755 had not materialized, I don't like apparent expansions on a bill that's not even a year old yet, gives the appearance of a pre-existing agenda......NA...TJ

FREE ATV Safety Training is subsidized by most manufacturers for your entire family when you purchase a new ATV. This subsidy never expires!! The OHMVR Division subsidizes FREE ATV Safety Training for all kids under the age of 18 that do not have access to a manufacturer subsidy. Enroll online for ATV Safety Training by going to the ATV Safety Institute website.

More Info... ATV safety

I would like to believe this is in response to our concerns, at least as far as training kids buying "knock off" brand ATV's, a bit of a slap in the face however to the responsible major manufactures...TJ 25deal.gif

The All-Terrain Vehicle Safety Institute (ASI), a not-for-profit division of the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America (SVIA), was formed in 1988 to implement an expanded national program of all-terrain vehicle (ATV) safety education and awareness. The ASI is sponsored by Arctic Cat, BRP, Crossrunner, Honda, John Deere, KTM, Kawasaki, KYMCO USA, Polaris, Suzuki, Tomberlin, and Yamaha.

It's down on the ASI web site probably for maintenance, note the list of manufactures sponsoring ASI makes me wonder how they feel about this, hey it's good good for the kids but let's face it there's competition out there. The cheep "knock off" specials not only don't support ASI most of them lack legitimate spark arrestors, many of us are ticked about Legislators and unfunded mandate's but where does it end, should Division also pay to fit these things with sparky's yay.gif ...TJ

Division apparently fixed the broken link the same way I did, just re-aimed to a different page on the same web site that works, there's more to this that just "knock offs" such as used ATV's. All in all it's a good thing, but by voluntary means (preferred) or new legislation these new manufactures, need to be brought into the fold or just drop it all together. This is my personal pet peeve about so called free trade, which is some how all we must live with just don't apply, to competition from across our boarders and we wonder where all the jobs went...TJ

This is getting kind of nuts, ASI's web site link used to actually register is still down, on top of that their not answering the phone. The OHMVR is stating on it's web site their subsidizing training for kids, however at this point in time there appears to be no way to register, so for now in the final analysis we DO HAVE A PROBLEM...TJ

They got the link back up, personally I think our Legislators need a little reality check before considering any new legislation, let's just see what we have does first...TJ
Robbie
Why cant they just post the info?

they post a phone number to get the info.

Kinda lame.

Are you talking about the States web site?

The page with the info was down, now that it's fixed I'm sure their going to re-aim their link, don't hold your breath however...TJ
