We have been talking alot about front tires recently but I have not seen the answer to my exact question and I did not want to hijack someone elses thread so here it goes..... I have a 5-seater Honda with 6.7x15 5 rib implements that measure 26" tall and no power steering or beadlocks up front (2.0 Kings). I have lowered the air pressure waaay down and still feel every nook, cranny, bump of the road through my hands whether it's dirt, sand or pavement. Choppy stuff just plain kills me. Other than the fact the 6.7's look a litte small on my car I thought bigger might help with chop and the last thread on tires seemed to confirm that. I need all purpose tires so I was thinking about M/T Baja Pros or just bigger implements. Has anyone gone from implements to M/T Baja Pros? How big should I go without PS as PS is probably not in my near future? Lastly if I do this what changes to shocks and limit straps should be made going from 26" to 30"+? Thanks in advance.........Todd

I went to 33 baja pros and they work good in the sand without powersteering, but they are not as good as razors for the sand. razors that are 29-33 inches tall are hard to hold on to in the sand without powersteering i have tried it. i would get the baja pros you will be happy with them. you will not have to make any changes to your suspension, you will only gain ground clearance at full compression.

Here's JMHO, since I haven't seen your car.
If it turns fine with just implements on it, then you might consider going up to a 30 or 31" implement tire. I've been told they are only $25 ea and very lightweight, but I have never picked them up so I can't speak from experience.
I do have a pair of 33" M/T Baja Pros. They are heavier than a sand tire and are actually 32" tall, so the 30" version is only 29" and weighs 28 lbs, the 33" is 32" tall and weighs 37 lbs. ea. A heavier tire means more unsprung weight, which translates into a harsher ride.
Gaining the extra height in the front also helps keep the nose from digging in on sharp transitions, and if your suspension was set too high to begin with (too much preload) then you could lower it at tad.
I've never driven a car without power steering, so I can't tell you the effect one way or the other. I'm *guessing* a larger tire would run over ruts easier, thus it might be a bit easier on the wrists than a smaller tire, but I'm just guessing.

get the 8.50 stu 3 ribs. They have sidewall flex. Chance tried the taller implements (9.somethings) on his car (same car as yours) and even with the air down he still did not get any sidewall flex so the ride was still stiff. The stu's have much more sidewall flex and a bigger tire will roll over bumps better. Imagine a 26" mountain bike going over rocks vs a 20" bmx bike. Night and day difference. Ask around you will find an used set cheap.

Thanks for all the responses. I think the triple razors would have the best ride in chop over anything but I am worried about steering wheel being ripped out of my hands not having PS. Will the triple razors hold up in dirt, Cinders and occasional asphalt or will I be replacing every year? That's why I was leaning towards M/T Baja Pros but I don't want to make a $400 mistake and not get the ride I am looking for compared to what I have now. Thanks again.........Todd

do you have beadlocks in the front? you could air down the baja's and get some sidewall flex the ride would be fine. razors will NOT hold up in anything but sand.

With no front beadlocks you run the risk of popping a bead off; so more flex might not be a good idea. And with no power steering the triple razors will be dangerous. I have had No power steering, Implemets, M/T 33" Baja's, power steeing & triple razors between my last 3 cars and I would recommend adding power steering for safety, and then get your suspension dialed in and then make a decision about your tires if it were me.
But to your original question; I would go with the M/T Baja's and have them shaved down to a mohawk style. Kind of gives you the best of both worlds; strong side wall but rounded to turn easier and you can air it down a little and the mohawk will help it steer better and you could still use it in the dirt.

triple razors with no p/s works fine. but they will not last on anything but sand.
