Who makes the widest, most comfortable atv riding boot? I have a pretty wide foot (EE). How much of a difference and what differences are there between regular riding boots and atv boots? Thanks
SHOCKER
Do u mean motocross boots and just riding around boots?
I dont think there is a diference, it depends how much u want to pay, im not sure about sizes or width,
but there are alot of good boots out there just make a wise choice

HD I would think that you would have to special order a wider boot. I have never seen them at the bike shops other than regular width. Just contact a couple mfrs and find out if you can special order them. I have the axo rc5 and they are comfy and they are an averaged priced boot.

I have nets and wide footpegs on my quad so I don't use riding boots. I just use my tennis shoes and it a lot more comfortable.

Im currently using my red wings but i was looking at boots for ankle support.

Alpinestar Tech 8 are expensive but the most comfortable. When I went to buy boots, I tried on all kinds and nothing was even close to the comfort of Tech 8's.

I second the Alpinestars, I have the tech 6s, the most comfy boot ...I can't believe I waited soo long to get them. The tech 8s fit a little better than the 6s, but they're more money also. If you figure you'll probably never buy another pair of boots again, they are a pretty good deal.

Atv boots are shorter in hieght and have a sole that has some kind of traction on it like your Red wings MX boots are only slightly taller and have no traction on the bottom . As far as the extra wide thing goes your going to have to spec order them unless you find a pair that somebody never picked up . As far as price when I bought mine AXO RC ? they were about $300 that was 10 years ago and they probaly will last another 10 years . Spend the money up front on good boots just like you did /w/ the Red wings and they will last a long time and your feet will thank you the first time you land flat off a 3' drop off .

I work at an mx shop and dont waist your money, just buy the tech-8s. Tech-6s are okay but u might as well pay the extra 50 bucks and get the top of the line best boot u can buy. oh and there is no atv purpose built boot.

The only difference though between it and an mx boot is the “work boot” style lugged soil. Mx boots do have traction on the soils but it is specially designed for the type of pegs bikes have.
You can sort of see the typical mx style soil here:

Buy Alpinestar Tech8. They don't even need any break-in time. icon_cool.gif

I second all of you that went for the Tech 8.

However, they are too stiff for ATV riding.

I love the tech 8's when I use the dirt bike, but when I use the quad they make shifting more difficult when riding on really packed and rocky terrains.

Mx boots (tech icon_cool.gif offer the best protection you can get.

Oneals all terrain boots may be a better choice if you only ride quads.
If you ride quads and dirt bikes, go with the 8's.

I had a pair of Thor boots and they were pretty crappy. Within the first two times in them the medal plate in the front came off. So I took those back, added about 50 bucks and got myself a pair of Sidi's...I like them, never tried the AlpineStar, but I hear those are real good too.

Well I spoke to someone at oneal and at thor and both said they cant make custom sized boots because they are made overseas and order in mass quantities. So I guess I am probably more likely SOL. Im hoping one of the companies I emailed will turn out with a yes or im stuck with red wings. Sidi emailed me back and they said they cant make custom sizes either:(

Was talking to my friend the other day and his feet are also very wide he says that some of the manufacters have wider boots then others right off the shelf maybe take a drive out of hel cental and try to pry your feet in somewhere that has several diiferant brands.

Our local cycle center sucks balls. Im waiting for a chance when I have a day off to go to San diego and check out some of the places there. If all crap fails it'll be red wings or i'll just have to get a size bigger

I have a semi wide foot. I wear the Oneal Hardwears Very Comfortable.

JSYI.. i have fox forma pros and my lil bro is getting the same pair for christmas... i am also cursed with the wide foot problem and my boots are comftorble... no splitting or nothing... also they are very adjustable as i have a huge calf.. the tony stewart forma pro's cover the huge calf problem.... but i would have to say the forma pros are the choice of mx...

My next question is how does one CLEAN these boots... mine are about ready to walk away on thier own???

do ya just hose em down or just load em up with baby powder or something...

Midnight Madness sale at Motoworld this Friday and Saturday. Supposed to be big deals ona lot of stuff. I'll be there Friday mornin for the best selection and avoid the crowds. Should be able to find a good deal on boots. They are advertising AXO boots for $80
SDB
john,

You know me and i wouldnt BS you. I have the tech 8's and they are awesome and fit very very well. They cost a pretty penny but boy are they worth it. Try and make it to motoworld like someone already mentioned. they whore out alot of stuff during midnight madness. some really good deals. just don't go on sat night when all the little metal mulisha posers are there. Unless you like a nice lumber yard! laughing.gif

Well like Nick, I have fat a$$ calves and a wide a$$ foot. Are the Tech 8's wider or about the same as most regular width boots? I actually wear a EEE but I shove my feet in EE's cuz EEE's look kinda funny..icon_smile.gif I've been told to get tech 8's but I just dont wanna dump money on something that I wont be able to wear. The only pair of boots that I've ever owned were some old fox boots that I bought 3 sizes bigger cuz I couldnt get my foot in my normal size which made shifting and what not a complete b!tch. I guess the best way to find out would be to actually stick my feet in some.... but I did stick my feet in some oneals but they wernt that comfortable.
ISBB
just go down to the cycle center grab the tech 8's grab the forma pros and grab a couple diffrent pair... try them on walk around the store in them see how they feel... IV Cycle center has a good selection doesnt mean you have to buy from them...
